Hi, has anyone heard of this system? It's expensive at about £1250...but maybe an alternative to vanbitz...

I am totally confused!

My van is £25k and it seems these systems are being fitted to motorhomes at least twice this price..

I like vanbitz but their Strikeback doesnt include immobilisation which as far as I can work out is another £200 on top of £599.

Is that correct?

Thanks Toby

OK…. So you are comparing a well proven £799 system with a £1250 system….. and?

just wondering

So...the question is has anyone got a pandora system? Or know anything about them? Or have any experience of them?

Is it a repurposed car alarm or a specific system designed for camper vans/motorhomes?

For the sort of money quoted for Pandora, assuming forum discount, you would probably be in the region of a Vanbitz growler alarm, immobiliser, tracker system (not that I’ve checked).

It's seems to be an alarm system designed from the ground up....for campers...Yes I can see its a similar price to Growler/strikeback but those 2 systems don't have an immobilser...

Hi, Thanks for your answers but I was just asking if anyone had experience of the pandora camper alarm system, which it seems you don't....I am considering vanbitz as the alternative...but would want an immobilser...

My vanbitz system has the non starter which a forum thread on here was shown to be unbeatable

The Vanbitz non starter is an immobiliser

It's not just the cost of the system, it's the installation. Eddie's team really does do a top job on this front and the after sales service has lots of plaudits on here and elsewhere.
You have to factor that into your price. If another system is cheaper, do they provide the same install quality and after sales service?

If that is so, it’s strange that they call it a car alarm. And the description is almost word for word with their car alarm. And they make no mention of all important locker protection and bike loops etc.

Hi Grommet....do you have a vanbitz system?
No, but I have worked around a few of their installs and have friends who have them.

I have been next to someone putting a support call in, and seen how much detail vanbitz keeps about each install. directing the person straight to the location of the component to look at. This was impressive on it's own. The documentation they must keep on each install is something I haven't seen before.

I’ve no experience of Pandora, but seems that system was under consideration by some in this thread…

Not sure Pandora Car Alarms mention their Motorhome specific system here…

We have the Growler & non-starter on our van.

I have spoken to vanbitz but found it confusing....

These are the things I want
1. Internal and exterior alarm
2. Immobiliser
3. Asset locator but not a tracker
4. The loop system I like for the bikes
5. To arm outside when inside
6. Lifetime warranty

I already have a steering wheel lock, a pedal lock, a swivel seat lock and an OBD lock....

I can only add comments as an experienced forum user, this one and other caravan ones.

eddievanbitz reputation is second to none on here and other forums, this is no mean feat in itself as traders generally get torn to shreds at a sniff of bad service or products, even when not deserved.

If you are confused, ring back and they will help.

I don’t feel the need for a system such as this on my vehicle, but if I do, I already know which one I want and it won’t be a Pandora one.

Sleep mode
Warn away lights system
High a low profile lights
Locker security.
Safe pets mode

All signs of a system designed for Motorhomes. And all missing from the Pandora. Who as far as I can see is the same system being sold as a Car/MotorHome/boat/motorbike/garden shed alarm.

I should say I have only spent two minutes on their websites. So maybe I missed some stuff.

I also have a Vanbitz system fitted and worth every penny. I’m a believer of listing to others, take their comments on board and hence the reason I choose Vanbitz over any other system.

Yes it’s pricy but you get a quality system fitted very well and works like a treat but the best bit is eddievanbitz provides second to non after sales service as for example……. My system developed a fault and Eddie without hesitation provided a resolution over the phone and parts that resolved my issue at no cost to me what so ever.

This is the very reason that members here trust Vanbitz over any other company.

We haven't got either, we've got the following, having had it on a few MHs now we're more than happy with it:

Just wondering how many funsters have actually had their moho nicked and, if so, what security system(s) were defeated by the thieves?

Having got no alarm I should maybe keep out of this, but I can't see why anyone would be looking for any other system than van bitz as he is on here and got nothing but rave reviews, why pay more for something no one has any knowledge of?

I would second that.

A reliable and pleasant outfit.

I bought an Avtex tv from Eddie whilst we had our alarm and other stuff fitted in 2012.

I can't tell you how much pleasure I got from watching that TV in the van a few weeks later when Wales obliterated England at Twickenham to win the Grand Slam. (y)

1 - Strikeback & Growler
2 - Metatrak Non starter - Smartphone app, does have annual subscription
3 - Metatrak - Smartphone app (or website) shows the vehicle location, and even history of your journeys - part of annual subscription
4 - Accessory loop with the Strikeback & Growler
5 - Strikeback & Growler - dashboard switch turns off the internal sensors
6 - Growler

Growler is effectively the bells and whistles version of the already excellent Strikeback

Hi I wouldn't try to discuss third party alarms even face to face let alone on a forum as its not fair and to be realistic since Van Bitz has specialised in motorhome security since 1990, we have seen so many business's come and go, it would be impossible to know the "In's and Out's" of other peoples systems, and to be honest we are more concerned about making our Strikeback and Growler systems the best we can.

However, if your confused I will happily ask one of the staff to give you a call and spend as much time as you would like to clarify your concerns, or give us a call 01823 321992

Briefly to answer you points 1 - 6

Growler, protects the interior and the selected external lockers, and has internal and external sirens
Growler as standard does not have an additional immobiliser as it relies of the factory fitted Thatcham Category II insurance approved Immobiliser
Ebay is the best place to obtain an non approved asset tracker circa £10 - £15 <Broken link removed>
Growler includes the loop system as standard
Growler can be armed in the night mode, arming outside when inside, which disables the internal sirens
Growler has a lifetime parts and labour warranty

Hope that this helps
