van + uk + european recovery

i just got quoted £350 for european breakdown cover for a 3 week trip. Annual is £450. Or there is a 'plus' cover for about another £100.

My van insurance and greenflag UK breakdwon are due in August

Seems a bit steep to me - can i buy one policy to cover all 3?

My van is 8m long and 4500kg which i guess doenst help

Try caravan guard they allow you to add EU cover and EU breakdown cover for a % of the premium, which is the same as if all purchased at once. The only extra is an admin charge, which I was advised was £15. I thought that was pretty reasonable. It was less than your current annual, for EU etc all in. But my van is 7.1m, 3.5t, 2017..
Shop around.
Ps UK breakdown was included.

Safeguard is cheap, but is anyone insured with them for a vehcile over 3.5T? They didnt ask me height / length / weight of vehicle to get a quote, so i wanted to check?

Have a look at Driver Guardian we have our 8.5m motorhome with them for breakdown.

Check what the chassis maker offers, I get Europe wide cover as long as the last service was with Mercedes.

I’m with green flag we got personal cover and specific cover for my van.
This means my other cars and Motor Home are all covered if myself or the wife are driving.
I only pay £95 so I’m surprised yours is so high

Driver Guardian quote is good too, but have you called them from the roadside in France or Spain? Its good to have cover but when it comes to the crunch how long do they take to arrive etc? Then again how good is 'le AA' if you call them in France?

Certainly NOT weight. They cover up tp 7.5 and without a Bible they go up to 8mts.

Nationwide limit is 8m, 7.5T.

We have cover with our Barclays account, it was only on reading the t & c carefully that we realised the vehicle sizes for recovery in the IK and Europe are different. In Europe it is 7.5m in the UK only 5.5 So our 6m van in The UK isn’t covered.

We have always taken out full yearly UK and European cover with our motorhome insurance policy. This year it cost an additional £65 with Comfort Insurance.
