I am gradually tearing out what little hair I have left! Started trying to up date my Tom Tom. All gone to pot. My device is empty, Tom Tom connect reckons it isn't. Try to download, insufficient room for map, try removing what isn't there and of course TT connect now says that there isn't anything to remove. In the past I've never had any trouble updating. Anyone in Canterbury area that can help please. Will be (excuse this) lost without it next week in France.I throw myself at your mercy.

Although now completely bald, everything sorted. Thanks to all Funsters who have been giving it thought. Than you Chaser I was aware of Google maps but I like someone to talk to me as I roll along because often the much better half doesn't.

OK somebody has got to say it!

Looks like you were in a bit of a pickle but glad you've got out of it!:getmecoat:

My Tom-tom became too old for regular updates.
They have now made it harder to download updates and try and fob you off with selection 2 - France only
You have to scroll down to option 8 for the whole of Europe - Which what I bought for 10 years ago -- for life???

Not your life though. Only the life of the product. I managed for years with a second-hand TomTom with maps about 20 years out of date. Other than the experience of 'driving through fields' coming up the A75 in France, it worked fine.
