I’ve spent a week trying to find the cause of a random beeping on our new to us Burstner 747.

The beep is barely audible inside the mh and isn’t linked to water or battery or anything on the panel. I don’t appear to have a smoke alarm or carbon monoxide alarm but if I did I assume they’d beep inside.

I’ve cleaned the water sensors in case it was those, though the panel says they are working fine.

It appears to be linked to the cab more even though the sound comes from near the back by the loo and garage. Turning on the engine stops or starts the beeping.

It’s not linked to being plugged in. Happens even on 12v.

I thought it had to be the step alarm but have kept the step in and it’s still happens. although perhaps it’s a faulty step alarm. Can u take out the step fuse without damaging anything?

I’m at a loss now.. it’ll be going back to the dealer next week but we’re in the middle of a two week tour and must be irritating people around us :(

Any thoughts much appreciated

its not in reverse is it, warning to anyone behind

Reversing light bleeper? Can you disconnect the toilet fuse? They can
bleep

I am sure you will have one or both, maybe just need to find them if only to rule them out (y)

if its a 747 its the undercarriage not locked properly after take-off (sorry!).
can you put the wife in the back to narrow down where the sound is coming from? or perhaps you need to ride in the garage on a short journey.
thought it was mandatory to have fire alarm but once they start beeping with low battery they only stop when completely exhausted.

It’s not reverse.

Not sure how to find the toilet fuse. It does sound like it’s coming from there. Toilet is working fine though.

The 747 is 10 years old. Was it stil illegal then not to have fire alarms? There’s no reference in the Manual to them.. and have looked everywhere.

It’s hard to isolate the noise but it’s definitely outside/in the garage.

:(

Ps the noise stops on a journey. It’s only when we’re parked up.

Try switching everything off, then turn one device on at a time (slowly) until you hear the beep.
I can get it at home, when a dust cart reverses up a cul-de-sac.

Is fridge door shut properly ?
My thoughts, often the stainless steetstrip that operates the micro switch needs a tweak, take the cover off the latch and rebend the strip so it makes better contack.

It's only UK vans that have them, on my 3rd German van (latest one is 2017) always fit a smoke & CO detector myself.

I’ll test the fridge strip but surely I’d hear that inside the van?

I’ll hunt out the toilet fuse but again would He toilet work properly if there was an issue with the fuse? It works perfectly.

I can’t isolate it and it just appears so random. Sometimes it beeps constant. Sometimes chirps. Sometimes for a minute then nothing. It’s almost like a loose connection which was why I thought step as according to the manual that’s the only thing that should beep without an error message showing.

We do have a reversing camera but not in reverse.

It’s definitely linked to starting and stopping the engine as that seems to stop it..

Thanks for all the help by the way. Anything which gives me a clue to trying something else. It’s driving me potty.

I missed your later post saying it's outside the van.

Have you tried disconnecting the leisure batteries you could then isolate to either hab or engine electrics.

I was going to try all of these things and it hadn’t ruddy beeped since we set up on the new campsite. Which is good I guess...

Ha. Is this always the way with Motorhoming?? Had to become a pump expert earlier in the week after the pressure pump disconnected and we had no water.

I appreciate that this is a while after your original query, but could your mystery beep be related to the immobiliser? My 2002 Chausson used to emit a high pitched beep when the immobiliser was activated /deactivated.
I came across your post as I have a mystery beep on my newly-purchased 2016 Adria. It only happens when moving, isn't accompanied by any warning lights as far as I can tell, and is definitely in the cab. I can't correlate it to anything...most annoying!

Have you checked your step isn't out?

maybe a dying battery in a smoke or Co detector?

Another wild guess, something like a sat dish left up? I hope you find what it is.

Thnaks - no sat dish....

It is not regular, or persistent. It's just a random, occasional, single high-pitched beep.

How about the handbrake not fully released? - mine continually alarms if not fully seated?

is there any indication on your dash screen? - seatbelts, open doors?

Yes, I've sussed that one - it happened a few times before I got used to it.
