The new Hymer B class is being called B-MC for short, sad for those of us that remember the original BMC.

"Hymer says the B-Class ModernComfort (B-MC for short) range sets new industry standards and is the culmination of over two years of development in association with Mercedes-Benz Vans. Merc and Hymer call the partnership unique in the industry. The B-MC range uses the award-winning lightweight SLC chassis (which saves around 60kg compared with an Al-Ko), as first seen on the Fiat-based B-SL."

They have probably never heard of BMC. Wish I hadn’t, I owned one once.

Same probably applies to Thor Industries, new owners of Hymer.

What next? A new B-LOCs range?

Could be worse. I saw a Europe-wide stock management computer system once which had Safety Stock as one of it's fields, which was abbreviated on most screens. As a German colleague said - "I think we should call it Safety Inventory. SS is not an acronym we ever want to use".

Why oh why did they not fit Alde heating , I was almost tempted. Suppose it could be an optional extra for another 10k!

That would be BMC bloody moaning costumes from all accounts.

Maybe Hymer are going for younger customers, BMC stopped being called that over 50 years ago:)

Now the 'Hymer British Leyland camper' catchy..... :)

Last BMC vehicle I had was equipped with a towbar. After a trip across the Military Road from Carlisle to Newcastle the towbar was missing - and I wasn’t even towing anything. :D

That certainly sets it apart from BMC.
Their development period was two weeks and one of those was the last week of the summer holiday shutdown.

And on the other week they were out on strike again

Should have had the tow bar fitted on the front - it would have been more useful.

Is it just me who thought of a Big Mac burger? ... and no I don't eat them!

They've not just shaved 40kg off the weight. The new Merc' vans are 6cm narrower than the Fiat models.

I suppose it is the new front wheel drive sprinter and NO automatic version same body as mine but lighter on the new chassis. the box being manual and the lack of live axle, dif, and propshaft must make a lot of difference. It will be a lot closer to the limit than they claim it will be. every little added part adds up to confound the limit.
