Do underslung tanks have an accurate level gauge these days as I am considering fitting a tank as I have plenty of space.

The standard gauges are pretty rubbish based on floats and potentiometers. Good enough to say when you need to top up, but little more.

You need an ultrasonic gauge (i.e. Mopeka) if you want accuracy.

Yes, I use the Mopeka bluetooth lpg gas level sensor on my underslung tank, and it is accurate and you can change the setting to suit your size of tank.

Very interesting... I thought these gadgets were only for use on verticle bottles. May need to give a try on my horizontal tank.👍👍

That looks a good option for a tank

Hi Two on Tour, how do you ensure the Mopeka stays attached (I’m assuming the magnets alone won’t be strong enough) and whereabouts on the underslung tank do you attach it? Do you have a torpedo cylinder or spare wheel cylinder? We’re thinking about fitting a 55ltr spare wheel tank. Many thanks

Sensor mounted on the tank.

The sensor is flush with the tank mounting brackets, that's a bit handy.

I made an aluminium cover to hold the sensor in place and give it some protection from road muck and spray.

Aluminium cover trial fitted and ready to paint.

Thanks Two on Tour. Wow that is a very tidy looking installation and how fortunate that you could mount the Mopeka the way you have. Very impressive. Would you need to be level for the Mopeka to be accurate?
