Yesterday I was talking to someone at a suppliers who was bitterly complaining (he often does) that he was selling his VW camper and the car insurers were not allowing him to transfer his NCB to a car policy. I certainly moved mine from a car to the MoHo.
I'm not thinking of selling up, but is it common to not be able to transfer NCB from a camper to can policy ?

I believe more than one specialist MH insurer don't offer NCD as such. They might take a period of no claims into account when quoting but don't officially quote a specific NCD.

The person you were talking to would likely have a similar issue if changing insurers for the camper.

With Comfort, they do not require NCB. However if you transfer your earned NCB Ito them (to prevent it expiring after 2 years) then they stated that they will keep it live and increase it year by year.

The only reason for this would be to then allow you to transfer it away at sometime in the future.

Not quite the same but when I sold my Commercial vehicle I couldn't get my NCB applied to a car.

In fact the insurance company refused to cover me and gave me 14 days notice.

Again not quite the same but when I surrendered my licence for medical reasons my motor trade insurance was revoked and they would not provide proof of n c b for when I recovered my licence. Long search for insurers that would offer any form of n c b. All up to date now but I suspect many insurance providers will use any excuse to get as much out of us as possible.
