I'm a newbie
What's the best tyres for my Motorhome, I've got 215-75-16's at the moment, but they are commercial tyres.

What chassis do you have ?
Front or rear wheel drive ?
Do you intend to use your motorhome all year or just summer ?

I have always used winter tyres and mostly Michelin Alpin. Though Toyo are good.

you do not have to use camper tyres

I've just put 225/75 R16C Michelin cross climate (10 Ply) on my ducato pvc and I'm very impressed with them

I've been told by the garage that I can't inflate the existing tyres no more than 69 psi, but i should been inflating them to 79psi as spec for the tyres for the vehicle.

69psi is for the American Market only and doesn't apply here.
I once had a new road registered off road bike on 'knobbly' tyres.... The sidewall marking said 'not for highway use'........ On a brand new bike!

This may or not be helpful but may I share my experience with you?
I recently replaced Mabel's tyres.
Although the old tyres had plenty of tread left, close inspection of the side walls revealed perishing, not to mention the date of manufacture.
Four new Continental tyres fitted and the drive experience is transformed!
So, in my experience, although the old tyres looked good, clearly they were time expired...

be aware that most!! tyre valves used by your average tyre fitters are not recommended above 60psi / 70 psi.

so not only do you need the correct tyres and pressures for your loading but also correct valves.

I've just brought 4 Continental Vanco 215 75 r16, just waiting for my new wheels to arrive then have them all fitted to my Motorhome.

Our new van came of the forcourt with commercial van tyres.
(Goodyear Marathon 235/65R 16C. 115/113)

No issues at all. It’s the load rating that‘s important.
(european use in late autumn winter and early spring means it is almost essential you have the three peaks winter tyres. fitted)

Had a front tyre fitted last year a continental camper, didn't know about the valve thing so how do you tell if the right valve has been fitted cos they all look the same to me.

If you run at more than about 65-70psi you should have steel valves fitted. They are - we'll shiny steel, rather than the standard black rubber ones found on cars

So 5 bar should be ok??

Two types of high pressure valve the stainless steel ones look totally different to a normal valve as they are all steel construction.
Rubber high pressure valves have a brass centre core.

You can see the different types here.

Don't get rubber valves fitted as these fail due to age and are not rated for high pressure. Use metal bodied valves.
