Two new discounts. Fogstar and Ripe Insurance

Item 4 could be a problem, stolen while you go for a walk could be construed as unattended so you get nothing?

Only if you go for a walk that takes you away from the Motorhome for 72hours. That’s a long walk. Sounds fair to me.

Got a very competitive quote from Ripe with the 20% discount £150 cheaper than AIB who I am with at the moment, but it does not cover towing my Toad

Well, my insurance is due in a months time, so just a quick ripe quote, even with just the online 10% discount it's coming in almost as cheap as what my current insurance quote increase alone is!

WOW

Nice one boss. 👍
Re: Ripe insurance should anyone wish to take cover with then pm me and I'll send a link for 20% off I get the same same on my next cover with them I think🤔
As I went with them for this year, meets my needs
One thing I found out yesterday after reccomending a mate
They don't cover if on left on road at home.
I had put car park which was OK.
jollyrodger ,sent you a PM yesterday 👍

Ripe - price reasonable for the RV but you MUST select a higher windscreen cover if over £1000 - take care as not obvious in quote screen. They also are fussy with 'upgrades'.

NFU still cheaper for me.

Just placed another big order with fogstar, unfortunately the code only works on selected batteries; bummer.

Why don’t you ask off grid solutions if they can get them with discount, nothing to lose…🤔

Are Ripe providing cover from Highway Ins , I assume they are a Broker?

Raul

What did you go for this time? Their own 15kw batteries? What's your experience with them so far and with what inverter?

I've still got that box of bits here lol!!

Not their own,
Went for 32 envision and two jk 200a, the old type. I'm staying away from seplos for a while, and stick to old tried and tested. Even the newer jk bms is still troublesome.
Envision is used by few in EU, usual guys on DIY forum, you know. Their supply is in NL.
Inverter wise will be two multiplus 5kva with DC coupled. This is a new off grid clean install.

grade B? they look very cheap, well worth considering ..... what case are you using

Grade B 305A envision, will be in home made ply boxes lined with epoxy plates. Then for safety, each battery will have its own class T fuse with ultra fast blow high rupture current 20 ka breaking ignition proof, followed by a outback DC hydraulic breaker on a different interruption curve but lower amps, and last but not least, set the bms SCC short circuit current at 2x nominal norm operation amps and time delay of 500ms max. Being two in the system they will have plenty for surge power, but also needs to prevent one dumping energy in a fault scenario. Main worry is fire in a burst cell scenario.

Jim have you received the 15% discount code from ripe yet?
Just I'm probably going with them this week and jollyrodger hasn't responded with his 20% offer!

I've just used jollyrodger code and did indeed get 20% off my quote and gone ahead with them for £286 against my renewal quote of over £550 👍

I'll put my 20% discount code in the hat now for the next person to use.

Where would someone enter the code to get discount?

Just follow the link in my post, or here 👇

What I did is get a quote without using the link to 20% discount, it should offer you an introductory 10% discount, save the quote, then do another exactly the same as your first quote but using the 20% discount link to make sure that it offers 20% 👍

Thanks.
Seems you have to start a quote after a referral link and not before. Fortunately its one of the easiest forms to fill in.
Will assess the small print later.
(Managed to get a 25% referral code, soz)

Interestingly, they accept IAM as advanced driving (which I did 20y ago) but not RoSPA which I passed a few weeks ago, and wife only has RoSPA. Odd.... Interestingly #2, Ripe are the only ones I've seen with option of "Driveway behind gate" rather than just drive. Must be going mad finding that interesting...

Everything went well with the quote from Ripe and was happy to proceed.

Sorry something on my credit rating has flagged up I'm not suitable...eh,,,what, I've never had this before, my rating has been 100 out of 100 for years, with Experian, I owe no one anything and.was paying in full so why anyway. Very strange

Hey ho,

Aah - if you have no credit or other debts, sometimes you can't get a credit rating with some of the firms that issue them.

Ripe wont quote unless Thatcham approved immobiliser fitted. Don't recognise Growler strike back as one.
