At present we have a Avtex tv in the van but the dvd has packed up. So I want to buy a cheap tv , will any model do ? I will only be using it on hook up so I don’t need 12v Thanks in advance.

yes is the quick answer.
provided you can plug it in the are no different, even some of the mains tv's have an adaptor that reduces the voltage to 12v dc.

DVDs are quickly being made obsolete, but clearly like many of us you have plenty of DVD's, so what I'd do is make sure whatever you buy is able to play movies etc from a USB port as well as a DVD player.
You might not use the USB port for a while, but sooner or later that is what you will move over to.
This would future proof you to a degree, but going all the way with a smart TV is really the way to go although they are still expensive.

All new TVs play video files off a stick, for about the last 10 years anyway.

you dont actually say whether you want or need a dvd player? the tv should work fine without the dvd working (i assume) and it would be cheaper and easier (assuming the tv is already mounted in the van and fits the space perfectly) to just get a stand alone dvd player wouldnt it, if its the dvd capability youre looking for?

If you get a smart tv make sure it has an up to date operating system.....got caught out....bought smart tv and after a very short period of time it would no longer open apps to watch iPlayer etc....turns out the operating system was no longer supporting some apps.....tv had obviously been ‘old’ stock....can’t update the operating system so ended up buying a fire stick which allow us to watch ‘internet’ based tv.
