Hi all
I have an old Mobilsat dish and box which gave up the ghost on our current trip. We have, till now, been able to get tv (albeit limited uk channels) using the digital aerial. Now, whenever I tune the TV in, I get loads of channels but they all say “the video format is not supported”
Can anybody tell me what this means please and can I do anything about it?
The tv is a Finlux

TIA
John.

If your TV isn't high definition HD then this could be the problem. France switched to HD transmissions only fairly recently.

Thanks very much for that Wagoneer
You may be able to tell me if that is the problem as I don’t understand a word or digit of what I’m about to show you. ?

Sorry can't help. Just aware that French terrestrial transmissions are now in HD. I understand the locals buy a set-top box to overcome this problem.....but buying a 12v version may be difficult.

I think its the tuner for terrestrial tv.
In france they use dvb-t2, you could use a set top box to tune and decode this and send to tv.
You wont get any uk tv,. Just the local french broadcasts, or spain if there.

Think French terrestrial is all MPEG4 now, which your TV does not support...
So you will need an external compatible tuner connected to your TV via HDMI...

Just checked when the French SD transmissions were turned off. It was April 2016.

If you have recently been receiving French terrestrial TV, then perhaps it's something else that is causing the problem.

Hi I don't know if this helps .. My French MH had a French TNT sat receiver and card installed when I bought it. My card has just expired after 4 years and I've found out the receiver won't work unless I use a TNT SAT CARD £35 to buy from Amazon.. Amazon also has New HD Receivers inc a Card for around £95 Can I also point out my receiver worked perfectly in Feb-April in SPAIN AND FRANCE transmits a few Uk Chanels..

Well it should work in France!!!! I tis TNTSAT France!
And also it will work in Spain, and most of western Europe, as the Astra 1 satellites are designed to cover that area (Movistar+, spains satellite tv service, is also on the same satellites, as is Sky Germany).
I think the only "english" channels on there are : BBC World News, CNN, Sky News, CNBC, Bloomberg...
And also free F1 on German RTL...
