We are planning to vist or tour Tuscany in September (with dog) for the first time for about 4 weeks starting from Calais.
Can any funsters kindly offer suggestions on a gentle route, we tend to make stops on route for the dog rather than thrashing on down the road.
I gather some of the tunnels through Switzaland can be pricey so avoidind those tolls would be helpful.
Does anyone have advice on cheaper type aires and or wildcamping in Italy rather than using campsites all of the time .
Finaly any specfic must not miss locations?
Many thanks in anticipation.

St Gotthard Tunnel then onto free Sosta on Lake Maggorie Camper Contact 11814 at Germignaga was what I did in June.
Camper contact says 15 euro but I found it to be free. just pay for electric if you need it, great spot overlooking lake, nice town nearby.
Italian Sostas are a real mixed bag, some great, some terrible which we left to find somewhere else.
I found Italy really expensive, diesel 1.55+ euro per litre for diesel so ended up going into Croatia, much better VFM.
Oh, I really wouldn`t recommend the river Po delta or Sottomarina (Italain Blackpool).
Looked good on paper, nature reserve etc but we just didn`t like the area at all.
Rosalina Mare - campsite from hell !
