Trumatic thermostat wiring

Does anybody know which wire colours go from the heater to the thermostat? i.e. which wires short together to turn the heater on? I have a digital thermostat unit that I want to use in place of the black bulb unit currently above the habitation door. I want to achieve 2 things: 1. to sense the themperature in a more sensible place than above the door. 2. To be able to set the on/off temperatures independently.

Could you pull the bulb thermostat out and look at the colour of the wires ?
Mine has on occasion fallen out on its own, I think a bit of bluetac is holding it in now

I have pulled the thermostat forward but the wire cores disappear inside and it'snotobvious which ones are for the thermostat contacts and which are for the OFF/500W/1000W 2000W switch.
