Travelling to France, Spain & Portugal with Dog

But now I'm a legal Spanish resident, we get ferry and cabins half price :)

But Penny pays full price not being a resident or don’t they check on her? And I take it your travelling in a Spanish registered vehicle Not a U.K. Reg vehicle? :) And the dogs Spanish too - Guau guau :)

We seem to be not too badly affected by processionary caterpillars where we are now - in the Doñana Park west of Seville - probably because the trees here are mainly Umbrella Pines, and these are supposedly not liked so much by the caterpillars. But we had noted a few nests here and there, and today for the first time while out walking with the dog we saw a number of them coming down from the trees, presumably due to the current spell of warm weather. Bit of a worry.

Last year there were loads around Donana and in the umbrella (stone pines) be careful when out walking.we usually go out to the wetlands as there's no pines out there and we like bird & wildlife watching(y)(y)

Yes, its against the law and, of course, dangerous to stay in the vehicle. If a lorry comes adrift it can do serious damage. Also, if anything happens, they will count passengers off. If there are some missing then crew will put their lives at risk to search for them. Unlikely scenario maybe, but these things do happen.

I never leave the dogs on the car deck - just the noise from all the car and lorry alarms would freak them out. Thankfully CalMac have a pet area on their ferries and you can take them upstairs. Some of their crossings are 4-5 hours so goodness knows why channel ferry firms can't do the same.

I must be lucky because in 50 years of owning dogs of all shapes breeds and sizes never had a dog that got stressed by anything except fireworks and lightning,,,The one that was stressed by fireworks and lightning survived until she was 16,,,Suppose channel ferries don't worry because crossing is so short,,BUSBY,,
