As Boringfrog , we favour the east side....

From Evereux on N154, leave at jct1 before reaching A13.

Pick up D6015 and follow that to Pont de l'Arche, crossing the Seine and on to Igoville (Super U for cheap diesel) keep following D6015 up the hill and down the other side to a roundabout on the banks of the Seine(although you cant see the river at this stage.)

Follow the D6015 along the banks of the Seine ( watch out for speed cameras). As you are now approaching Rouen, watch out for a large church on your left with twin spires..

Get in the right hand lane.
As you carry on you'll see your first sign for Calais...

Follow the slip road down to join the A28 dual carriageway.

Keep following the signs for Calais and you'll enter the tunnel (No! It's not the low one!:giggle:)...

And that's it you're through Rouen.

Isn't the D6015 riddled with speed ramps though, unlike D18E?

That's my experience and I'd pick D18E every time. Very easy to get onto going north, much less easier getting onto heading south, which is why earlier this year I had to traverse all those &*%$^ speed bumps on th D6015. :-)

There are no speed ramps on the D8015. It is a big two lane road through the industrial areas.

Hmm, well that's got me scratching my head. I went over countless speed ramps last time heading out of Rouen, I can't see how it could have been anything other than D6015, and street view seems to back me up, whereas just west of there is a dual carriageway, the D18E.

Returning north we definitely take the route west of the Seine. Up the A13, come off at J22 Oissel onto D18E which is dual carriageway, follow the signs for N28 and head north. Dual carriageway all the way, there is a small toll to pay but no towns, no speed ramps, minimal junctions. I got this from a favourite website. https://about-france.com/tourism/no-tolls-routes.htm
The N138 and N338 route involves too much traffic imo.

We always used to use the D6015 until a few years ago and discovered the A13 (it's free) then the N138 it's just so, so, easy after the D6015. Autoroute/ dual carriage nearly all the way no underpasses to avoid, just try it you will be surprised how easy it is.
