We are thinking that a trip to the states might possibly be in order once things have settled down somewhat and we were wondering if anyone out there haas tried renting/buying a RV out there to travel around.

We had a few holidays out in California back in the late 80's/early 90's but fancy a long trip around the states now we are retired.

We've done this in the US and Canada. A few comments:
- check the company your are booking with exist! We were nearly scammed from a very convincing website. After that we google mapped / street viewed the companies!
- do your calculation regarding mileage - it may be cheaper to go for unlimited mileage.
- check the insurance conditions carefully.
- remember you may not be allowed to collect your RV for 24h after your flight.
- don't pay for their comfort pack (bed linen etc). It's cheaper to buy from Walmart and then leave behind. We did this with bed linen, chairs and fire pit.
- photograph everything, inside and out before pick-up and on drop-off.
- get a local SIM card and use your phone for satnav, if one isn't included in the price.
- expect low mpg but cheap fuel!
- some sites can't be booked in advance so you need to get there early to get a spot.

Overall, all our trips have been fantastic (but expensive). Enjoy.

10k return to ship your own motorhome. It may be cheaper.

Wouldn't want to take that route. Would probably rent although we would look at the possibility of buying over there and then selling at the end.

Oh, and don't forget to consider one-way drop-off rather than round return trip - just need to check the cost difference. Attached a couple of pics of the RV we had in the US.

If you time it right there are converters who require delivery drivers.
You get a Big discount and a number of weeks to get to your destination.
A popular one seems to be Chicago to Los Angeles in 3 weeks.
You travel as you please and where you please providing you arrive on time.
You pay fuel and campsites.
No details of companies so you need to Google.

Great tip pappajohn.

Just found this site https://www.imoova.com/imoova/relocations with what looks like some amazing possibilities

We have rented RVs but our last trip was a one way location of a brand new Cruise America RV from Chicago to Las Vegas via cities on Route 66 and branching off to Memphis, 3000 miles in a month and at special hire rate for relocation.
These happen every Spring and early summer with new RVs produced in Indiana for distribution throughout the US and Canada.
UK contact is www.cruiseamerica.co.uk
