I let my grandad rights go at 70 because my heart condition means the medical might be a problem, even though I am stable and safe. In simple terms, what are my towing options with a pretty fully laden 3500kg van?

I could be wrong but if your van weight will be up to your 3500kg then I think you can only tow something up to 750kg.

Category B - if you passed your test on or after 1 January 1997

You can drive vehicles up to 3,500kg MAM with up to 8 passenger seats (with a trailer up to 750kg).

You can also tow heavier trailers if the total MAM of the vehicle and trailer is not more than 3,500kg.

You will have your B E so you will be able to tow up to the maximum your vehicle is plated to tow as it will not be anywhere near what you are allowed to tow which will be at least 3.5 tonnes.

750kg will give you approx 600kg payload which isn't bad.

Would take things like awning, bikes etc in the trailer.

Cheers James

Depends on the vehicle’s towing capacity, it might be as much as 3500kg that you could tow behind your Motorhome, check your V.I.N. Plate to be sure but your Driving Licence will allow you to drive up to a 3500 maximum gross weight vehicle plus the potential for a 3500kg trailer.

Most 3.5 ton motor homes can tow up to 5.5 braked but check your vin plate that is total train weight

Check your max train weight , should be on the converters weight plate

As above your non-C1 licence should still have B+E, allowing you to tow more than your Hymer is probably plated to

My Ducato was originally plated at 3300k gross, I uprated it 3500 but the train weight remained he same at 5800k.
With a fully laden van and B+E licence it is possible to tow 2300k.
