I think you will find that the towbar has to be type approved on newer vans and thus more expensive🤔😊
Na, it's just greed in the same way dealers charge upto £120 p/h labour. One of our group members has just been quoted the best part of £400 for a single 230v CBE socket... all of the parts, socket, frame, cover & back box only cost £11.10 in VAT.

The type approval 94/20/EC ruling has been there since 1998. Harrogate Tow Bars & Trailers who have been around for nearly 50 years will attach a type approved TB, electrics and extensions if needed for £900 - £1000 inc VAT. I've just had one fitted... £912 inc extension & strengthening plates.

Auto Trail will factory fit a Witter detatchable swan neck to any of their motorhomes for £750.

Might be worth talking to Tow Trust Towbars in Atherstone. I bought a complete kit for my Elddis from them . Very easy to fit with full fitting instructions, took 2 hrs to fit no issues . All in cost for mine £430
