Anybody used the Aires at Tournai at this time of year as making a start on my way to Switzerland. Will be arriving about 2000hrs ish

Am there now ,M/M section is quite full but still plenty of room on car park

Bit late now, as you may have arrived! We stayed there in May, loads of space even if not in a motorhome area. Loads of lorries overnight there. Good location for the town, waste dump and water, and free!

Tournai is one of my favourite towns. An enormously historic place. Normally stay in the free aire on the main road through by the civic buildings and TIC. Only downsides are that it is fairly often occupied by travelling circuses, zoos and fairs that setup on the big area next to it. Twice we have camped amongst them. The are definitely a race apart but seemed quite friendly. I had a long chat with a guy that had aa box of rodents of some kind under his arm the last time. Only realised after that he was on his way to feed bigger animals!!!!

Don't know if they still do it but the TIC personnel used to put a flyer on the windscreen giving the dates of Fairs, Circuses etc on and with alternate stops during this period, basically anywhere on the outskirts of town. One we have used is the old customs point on the canal on the Belgium France border. No facs but a great stop.
