I'm still a teenager, having been built in 2002, but Brownhills say that I'm over the hill! I'm too old for them to work on so I need to find someone else to give my electrics a little tweak.

Fortunately my owner, despite being over 70y old, thinks that he may be able to sort it himself which will save him some money. All that he hopes he needs to do is identify the positive lead to my adjustable mirrors. My Rapido circuit diagram shows 9 wires going to the switch but the actual wires don't correspond to the colours of the diagram. I know everything worked before last year, so something strange has happened. Anyone with a good suggestion will make my owner very happy and stop him from losing even more of his grey hair.

Thank you.

Sorry can't help, sure an experienced funster will advise you soon, good luck (y)

take the plastic panel off to the right or left of the footwell, beside your knee when sat in the cab. This is where the mirror and electric window if fitted is joined to the loom. These plugs can get corroded and the associated earthing point too. Clean up and re-make the joints and the fault may be resolved

I have a permanent positive and a switched positive in a plastic box under my driver's seat. Both have numerous red wires coming off. Close by is a multi-earthing point. I cannot see how any of these will have corroded but I will get my master to check.

Whoever wired my switch up was colour-blind or drunk (possibly both) because terminal1 should be connected to an earth point with a black wire but is actually red and doesn't connect to earth nor positive.
Terminal2 should be red and connect to positive but it is white and also doesn't connect to earth nor positive.
My owner is very reluctant to use a flying lead, even one going through an in-line fuse, to make one of these live.
The only good thing is that my system worked previously so it should work again, he has whispered in a loving tone. (At other times he get cross and shouts about idiotic Frenchmen!)

But I am concerned about becoming unloved. Am I really too old?

I am not talking about under the seat. Under the front side window, beside the pedals, is a plastic panel. Remove that to see the electrical connectors
