Rapido V68 Van Conversion

Sadly we are flying back to Blighty tomorrow, so have moved campsite to Las Palmeras, at Crevillent, just south of Alicante and close to the A7 autovia.

It has become something of a favourite stopover, before putting the van in storage and going to the airport. It is an ACSI site charging 18 euro including un-metered electric and free wi-fi. It's part of a hotel and restaurant complex right in town, but the camping is a little oasis. Restaurant very popular with the locals - always a good sign.

Anyway, according to Google, it's 21 degrees at the moment. But with no wind and the air still, it feels much hotter, hence sitting in the shade! ;)

Just spent hour in the garden in Cromer it was lovely and sunny as well! Now Sweating like a At least I got those bloody tree roots out:whistle:

Jealous, where do you store the van and what are the costs please ?
We store the van at Chris Parking - just during the winter. We are paying 400 euro for it to be tucked up safe and secure in a large garage for 6 months. The price includes free transfers into the airport, just over five minutes away. They also plug it in whenever we request, to keep the batteries conditioned. It is a German family run business. They are friendly, reliable and very professional.

We are only 7 minutes from our local airport in the UK and winter flights to Alicante are cheap and numerous.

:swear2: to the frost! I had to clear frost off the car windscreen the other morning, I thought I would use the B&Q card. Useless! I only got 10% off!

How do you insure your van when left in Spain for 6 months,we left ours at the airport for 2 months but still worried it was not insured.

It was a real struggle to find an insurer, but after much telephone bashing, and nearly losing the will to live, we finally came up trumps. Found a reputable underwriter who would do it, and at a reasonable price.

I can let you have the details if you want.

It dropped to 17c last night. Nearly called the gritters out.

I keep reading/hearing about artic conditions expected in Spain this weekend suggesting -10 and heavy snow. As we are parked up this evening near Bayonne and due to travel into and through Spain from tomorrow can anyone throw any light on said rumours and if so advise on the safest (in terms of snow) best route as we aim for Gibraltar, thank you.

Keep heading the way you are there might be a bit of snow higher up but the roads a usually cleared quickly.(y)(y)(y)
If I were you I’d try to get as far south as possible by Friday at least Caceres going that way would avoid a lot of travel through the high Pyrenees.

It snows every year in the middle of Spain. But you'll be on the edges, so OK

Lovely little site. We were holed up there for a week in December 2018 -- had to stop mid-tour of Iberia to do some work. We needed somewhere we wouldn't mind spending 9-5 (actually 10-6 Spanish time) at our virtual 'desks'. We'd been there a couple of years before, so when we had to choose somewhere relatively off the beaten track to spend the week working, it was the obvious choice. As you approach the site, the surroundings all look a bit industrial. Then you are met by the surprise of a veritable palm-laden oasis amidst the dullness. The town has the necessaries of supermarkets, banks, etc. and the hotel that runs the site has a restaurant serving some rather nice authentic Spanish fare. As well as the ACSI rate, they were doing an offer of 7 nights for the price of 6 at ACSI rates.

Any Idea, how you might fare, after the "B888t"?.

1.43pm - home in time for lunch! :)

Assuming it will be fine after Brexit... but who knows?

We're bringing the van back on the ferry from Bilbao on 19 March. But plan to repeat the excercise next winter.

Have already asked Chris Parking to reserve a place for us.

Hi - thanks for the better and more comprehensive description of the campsite! Glad you enjoyed staying there and could take advantage of the 7 nights for the price of 6.

I'm almost reluctant to sing its praises too much, in case it gets overrun by Funsters... ;)

Seriously though - all (or at least many) of the coastal campsites have been full and turning folk away. But thankfully there was space available at Las Palmeras - phew. (y)
