I have been told it's time upgrade our motorhome dinner service and am afraid I have not kept up with this particular market over the years.
Our dinner service at the moment is a lovely fluorescent shade of green made from plastic and at least 15 years old.
There must be something nicer than plastic plates to eat off by now.
Can anyone advise on good, strong (I want at least 15 years out of it again) lightweight 12 piece dinner set brand and where to get it from. It doesn't have to be fluorescent green! i'd be lot happier with a more neutral colour

Whilst writing the above, my highly attuned sixth sense tells me I might be in the market for knifes, forks and spoons very soon as well so advise on them as well please

Correlle dinner service every time. I’ve had my current set for 7 years and there are loads of designs to choose from. See Amazon for suggestions but readily available from other suppliers. Regarding cutlery I just have a set from the supermarket.

We have Corelle, light and unbreakable ( within reason!) been using it for 10 years.
I believe IKEA do they’re own version and it’s cheaper.

Corelle for us too.

Ikea were selling their own version very cheaply (50p per plate from memory) at one time, but that may because they were discontinuing it. Not been back to see if they still sell it.

Have a look at Ikea Oftast. Plain white, rather than patterned, but otherwise similar to Corelle without the high prices.

Edit: Just seen the post by peterc10 - they do still sell it. We were at the Gateshead store on Wednesday (though the large plates weren't in stock at the time).

We just splashed out on the IKEA tempered glass set that many people recommend. 50p an item and I bought plates, side plates, bowls and a bigger salad bowls or two. Seems great so far and doesn’t seem to rattle like the previous crockery from the kitchen cupboard we were using.

We have the IKEA tempered glass stuff as well. If you're happy with plan white its a fraction of the cost of corelle and you can buy just what you want.

I like the look of that Ikea glass crockery. Could anyone let me know if it’s significantly lighter than “standard” crockery please?

My budget won't stretch to £500.00 thinking more like £40-50 max
My Corelle set cost $28….. admittedly in the USA but shopping around you can often get it relatively cheaply over here

We have Corelle plain white as the patterned styles all seemed to have huge dinner plates and side plates whereas ours has a more normal sized dinner plate and a small tea plate and small cereal bowl. Got a bargain set from Amazon, very lightweight. Got a couple of pasta bowls from the IKEA range as a top up seem very good as well.

The mugs are not made of tempered glass though. They are still made of pottery in the sets. Not all sets have them. They are a bit naff!

Another vote for the Ikea tempered glass items. With regards to its weight compared normal crockery I think it would be similar but when we moved from Melamine we cut down on the amount we had. So no side plates, desert bowls, just 4 each of the dinner plate and larger bowl. Okay bowl is a little big for dessert but ideal for pasta or salads or soup or stew etc

It depends on what you compare it to certainly lighter than denbyware type crockery maybe not bone china

I broke a plate just after buying :-) Must be very clumsy lol

Have you looked at Wheat Straw sets? They're very lightweight, unbreakable, microwave and freezer safe, made from all natural mateials and can be reycyled. The come in different colours, too  Check out Amazon for ideas.

I have the cheap white dinner set from IKEA mentioned above with a link by GJH. Easy to replace if I break anything and I don't mind the weight as they don't weigh much really compared to dome dining sets. I like to have things that can go in the microwave and don't mind a knife being used on them and not leave marks on the plates / bowels. Cutlery I also got from Ikea, again easy to replace if I lose any. you have probably purchased what you wanted by now, but I thought I would share.
