Apologies if this is the wrong section to ask this. We're currently on a euro trip and would like to buy one of the above. Thinking that the continentals would have better access to this sort of thing.

Asking just in case some funsters had done the same.

Many thanks.

Please give us a clue to what you are talking about I can't be arsed to Google at 11pm.

The bright orange drink you see europeans drinking from 11am onwards. Usually mixed with Cava, Prosecco or Cremant. It would take you longer to read this than google one word:)

Lidl sell a passable copy

Strangely, I saw three of these on display outside a bar in Ibiza town last week. I've never seen one for sale though. My wife loves the stuff and I pointed them out to her.

Quick google and plenty online in the UK including Amazon. Which country are you in at the moment?

I've tried half a dozen copies and quite a few more different 'apertivos', some in my opinion are close. You can't beat the real deal though. We've also seen a few on display at bars, but are struggling to find them here (spain) or in France. They're available mail order in uk, but we thought they'd be easier to get from a shop abroad.

Why a 3 litre bottle?. Wouldn't it keep better as 4 x75cl bottles .

And I thought you were a seasoned traveller!. Aperol is the aperitivo of choice in Italy and now in Spain and France too. We enjoy a glass occasionally but definitely best drunk next to an Italian lake

3ltr

But if you really like it. 20ltr

We’re just outside L’Estartit. There’s an amazing supermarket down the road that sells huge bottles of alcohol. 2.75l bottles of Famous Grouse and other brands. They do sell Aperol but I didn’t notice whether they did big bottles. They had huge bottles of wine. I forget the names of the sizes but the biggest must have been 15 litres - edit: Nebuchadnezzar!

Not too keen on Aperol when I tried it in Austria. We get laughed at because we like a Cinzano when we're away in the van and we found this excellent substitute in a supermarket when we were clamped at Lake Iseo !

Lake Iseo is on my list for next summer, can I ask where you camped?

Wow that keg is ridiculously expensive, £16.50 a litre, that's more than the real stuff. Actually the big bottle is even worse, 3x the usual 1litre price. 🥺

Think it was simply called "Camping Iseo" I'll check the captain's log when I get back home. There were some lakeside pitches, but you need to book them well in advance. Clean ablutions and a nice restaurant/bar on site and maybe a 10 minute bike ride into town. Only downside was a barking dog right through the night, but I dont think that's out of the ordinary for Italy ?

I thought it would be cheaper abroad because in uk as others have said it's too expensive.

To get back on track, I'm after a 3 litre bottle so we can drink the contents and make a light of of the empty bottle for a friend's bar, by adding a light at the bottom and filling it with clear orange resin.

around 60€ the 3l here but you are being striped up for the fancy bottle. cheaper as 1l bottles at 11€ each

as above.
or just buy the bottled sangria in fake chicken ,bull, etc; shapes & make lights from them:giggle:

Never heard of this... And honestly 84 euros for a bottle...that first could make you unconsciously give your bank card code away...and finally end in your bladder...then...even worse water a tree! Indeed? Aperol? A nice fresh lemon juice is much better, and yes I agree it will still end watering a tree...but hey ho for 1 euro!!!!

I've been digging around on Google France .... lots of 1 litre bottles available (and also in Asda currently @ £15) but the 3 litre ones seem to be unavailable, or 'en rupture de stock' as Amazon France so quaintly puts it.

I was reading/watching/listening to an article about the growing trend in buying used bottles for their aesthetic value. Maybe that is why the larger (3 litre) bottle is is dear.

Could be. But it seems it's equally hard to buy a three litre bottle in the eec.

Funny how a request for something generates so many different answers.

Found one at last in the Conad at Ventamiglia. Just a bit more than three individual litre bottles and half the price of specialists on line.
Need to drink it before starting the light project. That'll be difficult......not.
