Dear oh dear, permits to visit next I think. How do we get away from it all, stay home presumably. I really think this is the thin end of the wedge, what with all the littering etc and the public not behaving themselves voluntarily, I can forsee the day when you will have to book a visit to our wild places, perhaps turnstiles instead of kissing gates. Too many of us I think curruthers.

Hi.
Some.../Many years back, " It was alleged " a Gov Min. wanted to charge people to access Ladybower dam. His family had a property up there and to many people were walking up to see the dam.

This time of the year when everyone’s going on holiday we prefer to stay at home as the plain is a beautiful spot and the artillery ranges don’t seem to attract tourists, they all go to Stonehenge instead.😊

They were illegally parked (eg on road side with continuous white line ) , its not just in AONB , see how folks park anywhere near "Bicester Village" and that's with massive car park and two park and rides with shuttle buses. Comes with the "Me" culture !!

"Getting away from it all" for me doesn't mean going with hundreds of others to the same place to "get away from it all".

I'm quite happy finding somewhere else.
The problem is there are less “Somewhere Else’s “ the amount of Campers/Motorhomes/PVCs/Van Conversions etc etc that one sees on any given journey is phenomenal compared with a few short years ago.

We have booked a site in Bury. Surely that will be quiet?
Nope as the people what was going to Darwin will go there instead.😀

I live less than 20 miles from Snowdon. It's somewhere I won't go near anytime between easter and September. Too many numpties and people who are totally ignorant. There are plenty of places within the park [and outside it] that will provide a much more uplifting experience at this time of year as I found on my mid-wales jaunt earlier this week.

We are setting off tomorrow for Dover, enroute to France, having abandoned plans for meeting Spanish extended family for now, will keep watch on situation & make our travel adjustments as necessary.Masks ,sanitiser & a hugh dollop of common sense packed ready.Enjoy your summer whatever you get up to.

Truly horrendous , so so many people do not respect much ,and the surroundings just go for a days outing , the sooner I can get back to Scandinavia the better ! And of course Scotland but even up there now it’s changed so so much since the NC500 still that’s another topic !

If being responsible isnt voluntary, it will have to be enforced with a massive loss of freedom to roam like we have had up until now I think.

Visited Port Logan yesterday, loads of Van's, not enough room for them all. Don't know if any were overnighting as signage prohibits it.

Don't forget the people you are complaining about went through our education system and have the vote.

Went to Netley Country park,Southampton, Yesterday. what a rip off. £2.00 for 2 hr. £7.00 4 hr £9.50 all day. last year it was £5 all day for M/Home. Won't be going again in the near future.

Yes ‘ Victoria ‘ country park , too expensive for sure , £5 all day is fair . A historic location thou I can remember the derelict hospital just before it was burnt down , thankfully the chapel remains but boy it took a long long time for it to be renovated .

It isn't illegal.
the white line denotes the 'edge' of the road.
Parking on single white lines
If the road has a continuous single white line running along the left side, parking is considered legal but in some cases may be used to discourage parking – though this is subject to localised laws such as no parking enforcement signs or other such prohibited parking markings.

& if it doesn't have those it isn't illegal.

I can understand those being towed where there is a solid white centre line on there side where they are parked.

Beautiful place ... when we visited last year we were only van there but nowhere to stay overnight as you say.
Tried the CL but it took minimum booking of a week .. only 1 caravan in it.

The minimum one week booking threw us as well, gave them a piece of my mind a few years ago.

I may have mislead as I was not referring to a road edge marking but to the continuous centre line in the picture , rule 240 Highway code , covered by RTA 88 s 36 £100 fixed penalty +3pts , or Court a lot more ! :)

Doesn’t a single white line along the edge of the road denote clearway?
This means no stopping never mind no parking. Thinking again to be a clearway might need signage saying it. I E blue background red edge and cross.

Single diagonal line no waiting cross no stopping

If you go a few miles to the other side of the peninsula to New England Bay, there is large car park next to (but not part of) the CMHC site. No facilities but there is public toilet.
