The water pump's gone now🙄

Another problem! Seems like everything is coming to the end of it's life at 6 years old . Noticed the water pump light is on all the time, the pump isn't running but it's taking about 4 amps. If I open a tap it starts and works.

So it looks to me like the pump is stalling rather than switching off so it's a pressure switch problem. It's a whale watermaster pump. Anybody had any similar issues? Pic from last year...

I'll have a look later when we get back from shopping

I take it you are still in Spain, I'd replace it with a Sureflo pump you should be able to get one locally.

Yes, I paid the same price for the 30 PSI, 10.6 Lt/min including filter. (and kept my submersible as a spare).

That one was for flexible hoses, the one in your link doesn't show any inlet/outlet fittings need the ones for your semi-rigid pipes.

Thanks Lenny I've messaged them about one with JG fittings, looks like 12mm pipe not got me vernier calipers here though

Yes it must have been pretty hot when I first noticed in was on, was on like that for 20 mins or something I expected some warm water to come out of the tap but none did

Microswitch feels OK nice positive click click. Motor spindle feels a bit Errrrm very slightly not smooth and there's a very slight bit of noise as if the brushes are worn out or something. More screws to remove

Oh that's helpful of them. It's a sealed motor
WD40 time if that doesn't work we're stuffed.

PS when I tried it last before stripping the motor wouldn't run, so it's the motor lost it's torque.

Ladies and Gentlemen! I declare myself a genius of the highest magnitude! With 3 squirts of WD40 lubrication into the motor casing (And 2 cans of Estrella Galicia to lubricate me) the pump is now reassembled and seems to be as good as new, alas I know it won't last. I'll get the Sureflow one when we get home

Use PTFE/silicone spray, it doesn't evaporate like WD40 does!!

You use what you have around in an emergency, it's a sealed motor all he has done is free up a partly seized bearing just needs a drop of olive oil on it now as WD40 will dry out.

I think it may have washed some crap off the commutator, but who knows, it's working and I'm scrapping it in 3 weeks

4 days on and the pump is purring away like Rolls Royce, faster and smoother than it's sounded for months. Good old WD

Ordered the sureflow off the linked eBay site, they are also sending 2 x 12mm GJ fittings (½"BSP thread by the way) and 1metre of blue pipe £64 all in

Oh yes that's included too. I'll plug the whale ballast thing back on the outlet

Sorted I had to move the shelf a bit and make a bracket to hold the ballast upright.

I've also shortened the shelf by 2mm on each end so it doesn't touch the walls and mounted the shelf on 4 rubber pads, none of the screws are tightened up fully either. Just letting it dry out a bit after a stem elbow fitting blew out of the outlet (binned it now). Had to adjust the pressure switch up a bit so it doesn't short cycle and got the signal wire back on it too.

The old one lasted until we got home by the way
