Is there anywhere / is it recommended to moho in jersey and / or the scilly Iles ?

Scilly Isles, definitely not.

They are small if not tiny. Most get there either by a very horrible flat bottomed ferry that any vehicle would have to be craned on in vintage style, or they fly. There won't be any motorhome (or caravan) friendly campsites even on the largest of the islands, St Mary's, and you could cirumnavigate that by any vehicle in the space of 20 minutes. Most of the off islands are one track roads and any vehicles arrived a long while ago, get filled by jerry can and are realistically agriculture only. Camping is realistically backpacker and walkers, not even cyclist.

Well that’s emphatic :-) . I’ll fly I think :-) . Jersey anyone ?

I’ve always wondered about going to the Channels.

The Isles of Scilly are in fact a great place, with different pace of life as they are isolated. They have their own little climate due to the gulf stream, so it rarely freezes and hence you do see some almost tropical plants. Many twitcher types will go back year after year. Vehicle travel, apart from the "mainland" of St Marys doesn't really happen other than to move bulkier items. Tourists will walk, but some bits do seem a bit hilly.

Interisland is small launch type passenger ferries (your motorhome will sink them). The main Penzance to St Mary's Ferry is not suited to anyone even slightly susceptible to seasickness - its the only ferry I've been on where there are sick bags mounted on every bulkhead :whatthe:

Early May the World Gig Rowing championships (historically the rowing gigs were used for each island to race out to incoming ships in the hope of pilotage, and the islands are a shipping graveyard as before radar and gps the first some knew of landfall was when they bumped into the often fog shrouded rocks) means that St Marys gets uncharacteristically busy. Even so the main "high street" centre is only really about 300 yards.

Roads on Jersey very narrow, I think you can only take motorhomes if you have booking and then can only drive to the camp site and back to the ferry.

The Channel Islands are/were very protective of local industries, hotel!!!!!

There was a time when you couldn't land without poof of accomodation.

Current update from Mr Google;

If you're planning on including the Channel Islands as part of a French vacation, then you can also visit them from ports in Normandy. However, in order to be allowed to travel to either of the two islands, you first need a motorhome entry permit. Full permit conditions can be viewed on the Jersey government website.

Visitors to Jersey are welcome to bring a caravan, motorhome, campervan, folding camper or trailer tent to the Island provided a permit is obtained prior to arrival in Jersey and the following conditions are adhered to: visitors must stay on a registered campsite. the maximum stay on the Island is 31 days.

Jersey is lovely. But not for motorhomes. Too small. Why bother. Costs a fortune to get there and uc heavily restricted.

The isle of man though. Well that's a different story.

Agree 100% you probably could take a motorhome to Jersey but you would not be able to get to much of it. It was hard enough trying to park a rented fiat 500 last time we were there. IOM on the other hand love it.
