Good news for those with Tesco Mobile (y)

Taken from Moneysavingexpert 29 Mar 23 .....

"Tesco Mobile – which piggybacks on O2's network – was originally due to reintroduce roaming fees in January this year, before delaying the move to May. It has now pushed back the changes for a second time, until next year."

"If you took out a pay-monthly contract on or after 16 June 2022, you'll be charged to use your data allowance in Europe from next year. Tesco hasn't yet confirmed what the charges will be or exactly when they'll come in – but we'll update this when we know more."

"If you joined or upgraded before 16 June 2022, you won't be charged the new fees unless and until you choose to upgrade your plan."

got mine on the 14th just in time

Have they got a 25GB fair usage limit when abroad ?

Dunno but they do have a 4 month rolling period limited to 2 months use on Home From Home in Europe....

Taken from para 2.4 - "We will monitor your HFH Usage and location over a rolling 4 month period. Where you are found to be in one our HFH destinations and HFH Usage exceeds 2 months during this monitoring period (in comparison to being in the UK or elsewhere), you will have exceeded our fair usage policy."

We got our Tesco phone sim before 16 June last year, £16-50 per month with unlimited data.
We have just spent almost 3 months in Spain, using the phone as a hotspot to our firestick and streamed to our TV every night, all for no roaming/fair usage charges.
Don't think you can beat that!

No I’ve just taken a new contract with them today and queried the roaming data?
I was told that up to the end of this year I can use all of my data without a fair usage policy and that they are undecided what they are going to do in 2024. So I’ve taken an unlimited data sim at £22.50
pm plus you get 5000 clubcard points and also points on your monthly payments😊

Used 200Gb in one month in France last July on the 24 month £17.50 unlimited contract from before June 22 - runs out in March 24 so need to get over there again when circumstances allow.

That’s a belter considering O2 have a 25GB limit before charges start to apply.
Worth swopping over to when the o2 deal ends in a few months.
Thanks

When your contract runs out you should have the option to just keep it going on a monthly basis, that’s what I do and I’ve been out of contract for over a year. Used it in Spain and just increased the data to unlimited for the months we were there which cost me £20 on top of the usual £7.50 that I pay.

every little helps

It would be fantastic if the rip off providers who said roaming would continue and then gradually rowed back on their promises have suddenly woken up to the number of people who have cancelled or not renewed their contracts and moved elsewhere.
Wouldn’t be great if they woke up to the fact that we are fed up with rip off Britain.

I was using around 400 gbs per month in France and Spain for nearly three months last year with my Tesco unlimited data contract with no issues, and I also got my contract before June so it will still be okay when I next travel into the EU.
