Hi all
After a couple of months out of commission I have refilled our motorhome's water tank, but I cannot get the taps to run when the tap is opened.
I changed the water filter, but the new one went on full of water so I don't think this is the problem.
The water pump works; when the drain tap is opened the pump fires up immediately, so it must be activated by the pressure drop when the tap opens.
Maybe an airlock somewhere?
Motorhome....Concorde Charisma 2013. Jabsco water pump.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Peter

If changing the filter is the only thing that's changed in system.... I'd start there... Especially if the system is pressure operated... and you can get the pump to run with drain open....

All stop valves opened tween filter, taps... Water supply?

If there is a bit of a gargling noise coming from the taps when you open them then I would say it is an airlock and just keep plodding away with all taps/shower heads. open, close, hot, cold just keep going till you get water.

Has boiler safety valve opened by any chance during cold weather? If my valve opens and I try to run taps I don't get any water out of the taps but it drains out the boiler.

If you have a shower remove the head put hose in mouth and suck. :)

Will try, thanks. Boiler safety valve is OK

Thanks. replaced old filter, still no go. Cannot find any valves between supply and taps, good thought.

When I refill my tank after it has been empty, or a component changed or a pipe disconnected it takes a good 4 or 5 mins of gurgling, gasping and spitting from the taps before a normal flow gets going.

If it's been left undrained in frosty weather, sometimes the freezing ice forces joints apart. No noise or gurgling, just water dripping out underneath the MH. Or even worse, not dripping but pooling in the pipe spaces.

I would try the shower too.

Some filter housing are one way. is it before or after the pump from the tank?

Thanks to all. The problem was with the non return valve in the filter housing, ( after the pump in our motorhome).
The filter threads were stiff and after cleaning and applying a little petroleum jelly I could tighten the filter another half turn, which depressed and opened the non return valve in the top of the jabsco filter housing. This had been closed, and so the pressure change that activates the pump could not be transmitted on opening the tap.
So it now all works fine.....

Glad you sussed it out. I fitted the filter before the pump, so it gets filtered water in. After the pump I used a Fiamma expansion vessel, so it keeps a nice pressurised flow, without having the pump start at every bit of trickle.
