Well, the fresh water blinks to show it's empty just after it's been filled! The grey tank regularly shows 25% full when I've just emptied it. They're temperamental in that they sometimes appear to show what I'd expect them to show, then seconds later the fresh indicator in particular starts flashing again. The dealer says he's checked the sensors/prongs on the fresh tank and "it's all working fine now". But nope, it ain't. Is this electrics? Any had a similar problem?

What MH is it, our 2012 swift bessacarr does similar every now and again, a tank clean normally sorts them but I do sometimes get underneath and clean the prongs in the waste, probably once a season.

Normally a good wipe is enough but have been told a light clean with fine wire wool works if they are really bad.

Access on ours is on the bottom of the tank via a large screw cap, the prongs have a thin rubber cover on each of them, slide of, clean and refit.

Interesting. It's a Pilote G650. The waste sounds messy. I think you have to drop the tank. But I'll take a look at the fresh. The dealer has already had a go at it. Allegedly.....

The dealer claims the fresh water tank probe has been changed. This photo shows the top of the probe, I think. There is a date stamp that seems to show 7/11/2017. Can the probe be changed out whilst leaving this top section still installed? If not, he's leading me on........

I have an Autotrail and my tank would show various fill capacities then go to 25%. I cleaned the tank with a low solution of citric acid,, left for a couple of hours then flushed through. Works a treat now.. The Citric acid breaks down the calcium deposited through electrolytic action and is safe for Stainless Steel.
Use foodsafe citric acid if you go down this route (y)

Sounds interesting. Where would I find "foodsafe citric acid"?

Do the probes look clean?

These gauges are notoriously un reliable. I’ve given up on mine years ago.
Yes, I can see that they are unreliable. :giggle: But it would be nice to have some idea of where we stand with the tanks.

Don't know. From what I remember it would be pretty difficult to get a visual. This thread is really to try to narrow down what's going on without access to the van, which I don't currently have. Hence the question about changing the probe without changing the top cap.

Ok, I figured if you were taking a pic you could have pulled them out of the tank.

Good luck with it anyway.

Foolproof method....
Fresh.. If no water comes out of the taps you've run out.
Waste... If there's dirty water in the shower tray it's full.
Just can't go wrong.

<Broken link removed>
my tank is 90 ltrs,, I dissolve 500gm in a jug, then pour into tank then top up with H2O,, run the pump a bit then top up again.

Tank gauges in my experience almost entirely useless. Splashed out on a set from Canada that are external to the tank so never get mucked up. Expensive but very accurate to within an inch or so. Finally stopped worrying about black tank overflow and emptying it before I needed to
