May be getting a Edge 494 (2020) as per some of my other posts/questions. On viewing we were told it needs a new fridge (three way under counter) as the door's falling off.
I may as well fit a12v compressor as they're better and we don't use sites. Is there a preffered choice.

I fitted a compressor kit on the 3 way fridge box. They are much better. Solar is ideal for refrigeration 👌

Please explain further. ?? Keep the fridge and modify it??

Yes I removed all the absorption plant and bought an isotherm compressor kit:

It's easy to fit, it comes pre charged with refrigerant, you just connect the pipes up and away it goes 👍

After the evaporator is mounted inside, you bond a piece of polystyrene behind to reconstruct the back of the fridge and poke the pipes through 👌

But the door will still fall off

We have a Vitrifrigo C95L compressor fridge and would'd go back to having a 3 way..
being 12v ideally you require a solar panel .. or use on sites with EHU .. but without solar and a good sized battery bank will last several days ..

little or no maintenance
works in all climates
no external grills required
fast cooling and freezing
very efficient

basically the same as a domestic fridge/freezer..
when last did you do any maintenance or have issues with your house fridge.

Ours is about 20 years old and still working as good as the day it was fitted..
that is testament as to how reliable they are...

Ours is rated at 2.8A .. so if running all the time would use 33ah in 24 hours.

but it does not run continually, consumption would depend on weather and how often the door was open and closed.. so the following is only a guesstimate..

50% of the time.. using 16ah per day .. so a 100 ah lead acid battery (useful capacity 50ah) would be good for about ~ 3 days..

Technical specs of ours here ..
