Not mine but just put up on a fb site. What an appalling waste of someone’s pride and joy.

Lost for words (well that's a first).

I'm assuming it was a stolen van.

Tragic Helen, guessing it was a newish Ford and is now a different type of vehicle.

Shocking but it may help in getting around the alleged poor payload in Chaussons!:getmecoat:

#This looks like it might be a neighbours, he had his stole from the front of the house, alarmed locked in and secure. They went on holiday and the van disappeared that afternoon, There were some 'Drive laying workers' just a few door down.
Is it a 610?? I think so, it was only a few months old if it was his one.

It is almost certainly his van, went about 8 months ago from Dover. He is going to give the details to Essex plod.

Well spotted be good to know if there are any results.

I actually think it’s an improvement not having a Ford or Fiat underneath it !:xrofl:
No problems with emissions either :xThumb:

The cab will most likely have been stripped for parts and body disposed of. Hab body likely to have ended up on the back of a legitimately obtained base vehicle cab and sold on with no theft marker attached to it. Amazing what can be done with tin snips and mastic!

Maybe I'm putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5, but is this a bit of a coincidence.
Stolen in February this year not a million miles from where the stripped one was found in South Essex.

So is it possible to mark the habitation part of your vehicle in some way - if the cab is being "re-purposed" then is there any marking on the rest of the chassis which would have tied it back to the cab?

I'm thinking something simple such as marking the chassis number or the V5 document number onto the bottom of drawers or (out of sight unless using a mirror) inside lockers with a permanent marker.

Why ?
If my van is so much as touched by thieving scroats we certainly wouldn’t want it back ! Ever
Sold our last van as it was broken into (n)

There are micro dot kits for bikes, that sort of thing would work.

I understand that but if just the habitation part is left how would the police be able to tell that it was part of a stolen vehicle? By the time it is recovered it will probably belong to the insurance company anyway.

I'm thinking more of evidence needed to secure a conviction.

There are ways, but anything the owner can do also helps. UV pen markings inside cupboards, under draws etc. Datadot are good, police have equipment to read them. The trouble with Smart water is that a part marked with it has to be sent to the company to be examined. Unless things have changed at their end, they charge for the examination and my force were never willing to pay the cost. That side of the equation may have changed with budget cuts, not for the better.

On my Hymer, I have etched the registration on to every plastic part like windows etc., I used a sharp pointed soldering iron and done carefully is neat and immovable. make an expensive job to replace all of them with new parts all windows and hatches alone would be dear to do. Registration is also on the roof , only tranfers, but BIG letters like police cars do.
However I think the chance of a police reactio other than giving a report number is becoming extremely rare now they probably would not even react to a theft in action report.
