Sticking gas locker door

We have an 2006 Elddis Autoquest 120 motorhome and the door to the outside gas locker is very difficult to close. We recently had the gas tank regulator changed and the mechanic told us there was quite a simple solution to this problem which involved drilling out the old rivet but we are unable to recollect the remaining instructions. Has anyone successfully solved this problem please?

Our first van was a 2004 Autoquest 100 which, I think, used the same hinges on the doors. The problem that we had was that one of the Ellbee 5 part hinges on our habitation door actually broke, after being difficult to close (see https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/broken-door-hinge-advice-please.24329/#post-292925).
Hopefully you have no broken parts as some types of Ellbee hinge are no longer made so are like finding hens' teeth.

From your description it appears that your hinge(s) may be misaligned as merely needing lubrication shouldn't require drilling out the old rivet(s).
If that is the case then the remaining bit will probably be to align the hinge(s) properly and put new rivets in.

Swollen hinges seems a common cause if they have been lubricated with the wrong stuff (wd40)

I think that problem applies to the Thetford service doors which use a pin made of nylon which swells when WD40 is used.
If you have the aluminium Ellbee hinges if I recall correctly the pins are metal so not a problem.
