Hi, Can anyone point me in the right direction please. We have just taken delivery of our new Autotrail 635SE which is fitted with a Media pack. (Built in Sat Nav/ Bluetooth /DAB radio etc). The steering wheel has controls for the radio on one side and the telephone on the other. For the life of me I cannot get the steering wheel controls to work, although they are apparently part of the optional Media Pack which I have. The dealer doesn't know if they are supposed to work or not, and thinks because it has a touch screen media system they are not required. I am not convinced by this. Does anyone out there have a Autotrail PCV with sat Nav and do the steering wheel controls function?

The steering wheel controls may have been for the original equipment fitted by Fiat and may not work with the media pack replacement by Auto-trail but guessing?

Yes they do we currently have a Vline sport with the same equipment and I have used the steering wheel controls to make calls . If someone calls you should just be able to answer by pressing the speak button on the steering wheel. To make a call press the phone button first under the sat nav then press the voice recognition button on the wheel and tell the system who you want to call.

Your dealer is talking rubbish make sure they sort it out for you the point of steering wheel controls is you don’t have the distraction of the touch screen when on the move.:xThumb::xThumb::xThumb:

Our Imala last year had SWC and they worked fine with the Media Pack
Dealer is talking sh*te

You can have an aftermarket interface fitted if all else fails

Thanks for your replies. I thought the dealer was talking nonsense. Very annoying as I now have a 90 mile trip to my nearest Autotrail dealer, who incidentally wasn’t the supplying dealer so not quite sure how helpful they will be. I have tried to get the system working and have this screen showing, but the buttons aren’t working.

Good luck with that. We had an Autotrail three vans ago and our AT dealer wouldn't touch anyone else's warranty work. I just hope you have better luck than us or else it will be a trip back to the supplying dealer.

it probably didnt get plugged in when the non oem head unit was installed

bet you are going to regret saving a few quid using a dealer miles away. very few dealers will do warranty work on a van they did not supply and receive money from the purchase to support. It may be wrong, but it is how the motorhome trade works

390 miles there, and the same back is a lot of diesel and time. I would have local in car audio specialist look at it

I’m thinking the same thing. We made a huge saving on the new RRP, our ‘local’ dealer couldn’t get near the deal we were offered, nor did they have the model we wanted.

Slightly related. We bought a 2013 Bessacarr early this year. It was fitted with the standard Fiat radio/CD player. However the steering wheel controls and Bluetooth didn't work. The supplying dealer discovered that an attached module was defunct. They replaced it with a Kenwood unit(with sat nav) and paired it with the steering wheel buttons.

Our supplying dealer for our last van (used) agreed for us to get work done at a local dealer and then paidd for it. We did well I think, but it may be worth asking?

Errr- that's not a Fiat unit and not part of the AT media pack
That why controls don't work

The OP stated it was a new van with the media pack so surely it’s got to be supplied by Auto trail?:xThumb:

The unit was fitted by Autotrail as part of the optional media pack. After a call with a technical advisor at Autotrail today, they told me the system should have been set up by the supplying dealer and was missed on the PDI. They told me how to go through a pairing sequence using SWC screen on the touch screen unit in conjunction with the steering wheel controls, and hey ho they work!

It’s probably fairer to say the dealer didn’t do a PDI and that’s why they told you a load of rubbish.
I am an advocate of if you want it done properly do it yourself well done:xThumb::xThumb::xThumb:
