Spring into summer in Spain

After an slight overdose of Sport on TV, it's time to participate in some physical stuff ourselves...just planned today's excursion into pastures new...
It's a lovely day, bright, sunny and only bordering around the 21°c mark by 2pm...
We've compensated for the slope this camperstop has, in fact in this area everything has a slope..but as we've avoided this stopover in favour of going to the coast, this is proving to be a worthwhile night or two..the village is typically Galicia and the parkland that surrounds us is wonderful. Good services with electricity too...

Martin had planned a route for us and it went well until it went bad. Luckily it was only about a kilometre of bad. A waterwashed track with brambles and a few fallen trees. Downhill, mainly, so easy to let the bike roll. A very short uphill after crossing a stream on a bridge (I was expecting to be getting wet feet) and we emerged on a proper track.

It was a lovely rode, discounting that bit, and we stumbled on a motorhome parking area. We've seen it on P4N but didn't realise it was on our route. It wasn't busy!

Tomorrow we're off to Ortiguera to collect the numerous parcels that are awaiting us in a bar.

Motorhome area at Muras, actually at Igrexa, a tiny village with not much to see.

Nice ponies next to the parking though.

You don't get total silence when parking up at at a windfarm..if that's the right name....but you get good sunsets and sunrises and wonderful views..
I picked up some Amazon goodies yesterday from a drop off point, included was some Thermal Paste which I applied to the appropriate places...thought I would give it a try, although the 3 way is providing some valuable dry storage space, it might get some use if it did work...no worries if it doesn't...
Ride planned which passes a Zona Recreativa...which we are going to view as an overnight location...we are going to need shade today as a 5°c increase is possible...so it's van in the shade, portable 200w panel in the sun supporting a recharge of the bike batteries...Today's bike ride can be viewed below...

We drove from the windfarm parking, 2.5km to a small hamlet with a lovely church area. All the buildings have been renovated and there's a handy fuente, also an area with a huge stone table and a barbecue. We first parked across from the blue house on the photo. The owner came to speak to us and he had no problem with us being there. He was so welcoming that we decided to stay here overnight. We just moved down the road a little for more shade.

We checked out the recreation area and it was nice but wouldn't have any shade for later.

And our now, and overnight, spot. We don't normally stop in villages but we've had the 👍👍👍

We know we're taking up 3 spaces but there are no other parkers.

View from our door

So,so grateful for those two broadleaf trees that we are parked next to, they have provided the afternoon shade we need....supposed to be 28°c this afternoon...but a cooling breeze from the nearby 22°c coastline has helped keep the van and us at a comfortable temperature..😃🇪🇦 🚴🚴

Drip,Drip,Drip...we have reached total saturation point....we are experiencing a Galician Fog.... every tree, building and we also, are totally covered ...not an uncommon happening here I might add.
No solar on offer just now...perhaps a reschedule of today planned bike ride..we don't do wet if we can avoid it...and the bikes are tucked away in the garage..perhaps they will stay there.🤔🇪🇦

It didn't really rain but its been grey and mizzly all day. A far cry from yesterday and sheltering under the trees for shade.

So, we decided to go to the big city, well As Pontes, and do the services, some washing and some food restocking and then come to park alongside the artificial lake.

I drew the straw to go to the laundry and it was quite entertaining. I had to help the locals work out how to use the machines, even though there were clear notices (in Spanish) explaining the order of selecting the programme then adding the coins. One machine obviously had a faulty door and the machine wouldn't start. Strangely "door" (in English) was flashing but three of them just stood looking at it and called the owner on the phone. I told them to open and reclose the door (and so did a notice in Spanish stuck on the machine) and the machine started. The owner arrived a few minutes later and a long, loud, conversation began, in Gallego. I understood nada 🤣

I think Martin had a better time in Gadis supermarket, but maybe not as entertaining.

So we're here for the night and, if its halfway decent weather tomorrow, we'll get the bikes out.

We're way away from all these.

The gates close at midnight and reopen at 8.00. There's a pedestrian gate to use during the night. The service point is off the main road across from the gate.

I imagine it gets busy here in "summer".

 gallego, if it's in small villages and going inland Galicia could be a bit difficult to follow. You already know that, going so much there 🙂

It does sound more like Portuguese than Spanish.

One of the women insisted on telling me the whole story of the process to fill, select and pay for the machine. I got a few words so I knew that was what she was saying. I told her I didn't speak gallego, but she continued. It was funny.

The owner spoke to me in castellano. She asked if we were in a motorhome at the lake so they must get good trade from there.

As a side note, we watched a Netflix series, "Adolescence" (amazing TV series), and the accent was so difficult to us that made subtitles mandatory. It was supposed to be west Yorkshire or Warrington accent? (as we googled it). Interesting. Really difficult for us.

It was set in Yorkshire my "neck of the woods" and some filming was in Sheffield, my home town. It wasn't difficult for us to understand the language 😂, although Martin is originally a midlander, not a northerner.

It was a good, but disturbing, drama.

Morning everyone...very foggy again, should clear later...bikes should make an appearance, route is planned...
Our fridge saga which I said I wouldn't give anymore time or money to, has taken a turn for the better...🤔 I had ordered from Amazon a tube of thermal paste, when I finally got around to picking it up, I had no options, due to curiosity, if this would help...so I applied it to the parts that needed it...so far the cooling temperature is hovering around the 5°c mark, we only have non perishable items inside...too risky and I have lost confidence in it totally.lets see how it goes....🤔🇪🇦🚴🚴

Reading the news today you have avoided, by going north, some unpleasantness in Murcia with a kebab shop being wrecked by people trying to drive the owners out. Shouts of "Moor out" in Spanish apparently heard. Perhaps to be expected in a big city but I'm surprised it happened in Murcia but of course the greenhouses along large bits of the southern coast are largely based I guess on immigrant labour.

There are some minor incidents reported John, in some other parts of Spain also, the Topic of the Week appears to be flare up between Nationals and Immigrants...but what I've seen is, it was started by outsiders who caused problems and fled the scene, leaving small groups to fight it out.... I've every confidence that our Guardia Civil will take control.

Back to Galicia....quiet Friday night, light rain, pleasant lakeside location providing numerous nautical activities, walking ,cycling, pleasant surroundings..
Should brighten up to 19°c max today..nice for us...
Our troublesome Dometic 3 way is performing well with overnight temperature of 3°c....this has no effect on our decision... It's coming out in the Autumn for sure..
Extra layer needed today for our ride..🚴🚴🇪🇦☃️

Yesterday's ride didn't give Judith any reason to post or take photos, or even do a write up...so I will do a brief one...Trees, big ones, small ones and all shades of green..😃🚴🚴
Quiet Saturday night after the fireworks ended, but the rain was fairly intense.
Our confidence has grown in our favourite 4 way Dometic Fridge.
Gas, 220v,12v and don't work.
Well it still continues to suprise us, we've even loaded it up with everything from the Alpicool and placed our confidence in it...although the weather is helping, a reading of 3°c this morning is something of a suprise..So...the Alpicool is off and remains in a Standby state for now...
We are moving on to a new location today, but will remain in the NW of Galicia for the time being...🇪🇦😃🚴🚴

Looking on a weather map it looks like you will catch the edge of the low which is hitting the UK at the moment. Might be rest day for you! :)
Absolutely John, my map shows the same, and a rest day it is, short drive and visit to Moeche Castle a 14 century restored little gem...1.50€ to enter and an opportunity to park up adjacent to the church for tonight...🇪🇦😃

A few photos from me.

The Castle. We got in at the pensioner price of €1.50 each. The two women working there are lovely and one (who made me look very tall) went out of her way to come with us at the beginning of our visit to explain some of the history. She did well in English, I think she wanted to use it.

Not open today 🤔

That has been our experience too throughout all our years in Spain. When we’re in our close friends house, 2 parents & 2 teenage children, no one speaks Spanish to us 😜. I try to speak my best Spanish all the time elsewhere, not so good these days but better than many I am told 😜

¿Qué?😃🇪🇦

Evening idealic overnight park ups can leave me a little jaded..
Sharing our bedroom with mozzies is a definite NO..we thought we had the intruder at around 11pm...but either we didn't, or one of her relatives were looking for a feast at 2:30am... finally intercepted and terminated...and then the rain started..Glad I haven't had to get up for work this morning...😃🇪🇦

Edit..."When will I see you again" a hit song from an all female group from many decades ago..their name is the same as our Fridge temperature this morning.🤔😃
