Unbelievably that VW is registered with a revenue weight of 3.5t!! Which sounds nonsense to me. That will be quite a bit of weight on the rear axle! So in theory you could tow that trailer with B+E.

I bet the trailer alone is over 3.5t itself.

You can drive a vehicle with a MAM of 3,500kg with a trailer.

The size of the trailer depends on the BE ‘valid from’ date shown on your licence. If the date is:

before 19 January 2013, you can tow any size trailer
on or after 19 January 2013, you can tow a trailer with a MAM of up to 3,500kg

So in theory you could drive with B+E.

Still think its actually a C1 and over 3.5t gross so C1E is safest

should be a plate on the trailer giving its weight , the pin weight etc .
could be that the trailer is pushing close to the actual pinweight for the truck even without alot of weight on the front end .
mine puts half the trailers weight on the pin.
need the trucks weights and the trailers to be able to work out if it would work well.
very often its better to have the trailers axles moved forward so the pinweight is less if using a 3.5ton gvw truck.
mind if other person had c1+e might be better to use a higher gvw tow vehicle. then use the 8.250kg trainweights etc .

I know someone who was done by the police because it was a business / commercial vehicle, he ran a stall at outdoor events. its s minefield for commercial use

if on business use operators licence etc comes into place.
best just build a camper out of it.
only had mine 19yrs at the moment.

I think it would make an awesome camper though and it's a vw

actually if its 3.5ton gvw and you have apre 2013 b+e they may be able to use the full trainweights etc but there is total length limits and width limits .

Pre 2013 test....B+E actually.
Tractor is below 3500kg and there's no limit to trailer other than train weight.
