A lot of people are sensitive about their number plate being flagged on here.

I’m in total agreement here. What does it matter?yes I've noticed.. never quite understood why .. hardly a state secret
Mine sits on the drive with front plate in full view.. and even when driving both front and back are on full view.. it is captured on every CCTV and ANPR camera it passes.. some buy personal plates to make them even more noticeable..
Yes, agree entirely. Not really bothered who sees the number plate on our vehicles.yes I've noticed.. never quite understood why .. hardly a state secret

If they didn’t want to be noticed they shouldn’t display a sticker.I quoted the registration number as I managed to clock that but not the make and model. As a newbie Funster this was the first Funster Sticker I have spotted and I thought the Funster would be chuffed to have been noticed. Can’t please all of the people all of the time I suppose
I do understand the discern about spotted elsewhere.

Why on earth would they possibly scour ever social media website on the off-chance they see someone they know has posted they are away.My take on the reluctance to state a number plate is that it where it is as opposed to being at home.
In a lot of cases, it matters not as they're normally in storage or parked on a storage site. However, some similar to me are able to park at home and yes, it's noticeable because of the registration but if someone wanted to break into my house, yep, obviously I'm away because van is missing but if its announced where I am, say France, other burglars might see and target my home.

Would YOU ?... perhaps the owner of the vehicle doesn't want to 'admit' to having been to B&M ....

I said I can understand it. I didn't say I agree or disagree with it.Why on earth would they possibly scour ever social media website on the off-chance they see someone they know has posted they are away.
Then, if they fall lucky, there's the possibility they wasted hour after hour searching only to find the house is still occupied.
It would have to be someone they know as they can't get owners details from anywhere.
I would be more cautious of dubious neighbours who can SEE you are away and your house is unoccupied.
We are at a wedding this afternoon, the house is empty and the front door key is under the plant pot.
Total paranoia.
Maybe but thought people weren't supposed to pick up on typos and spelling. Rule 1.I think you mean 'concern' ?
so now you know the registration of the van.. what can you find out other than
MOT history and whether VED paid or not, which is all in the public domain.. ?
I thought he was just being helpful,it’s not offensive.Maybe but thought people weren't supposed to pick up on typos and spelling. Rule 1.

Doubt you will get anyone put their hand up for this.

You've got more chance if you change the thread title to "Spotted in Burnham on Sea - Hymer" or whatever it was.
Fair commentI was. ASKING.. NOT correcting you .. hence the question mark
I wasn't sure what you meant either word could be used in that sentence..
1) I do understand the discern about spotted elsewhere.
2) I do understand the concern about spotted elsewhere.

I am with @NickNic with this - just because you do not understand why data collection is a problem for you does not mean it is not.
