I have a Pilote A Class G 600 and thinking of adding a spare wheel. Any ideas where the best place to go, preferably in midlands area. I would probably buy 2nd hand wheel and tyre.

If you travel in mainland Europe it is best to have a spare that matches your existing tyres. In France & Spain and some other countries the breakdown & tyre services will only fit tyres of the same make and type to the same axle.
Put a wanted add on Fun often Funsters selling tyres and sometimes wheel, make sure you state base vehicle i.e. Fiat, Merc etc. and tyre size.
If buying an aftermarket wheel do check the load rating as most have a lower rating than an OEM wheel.

I have a spare spare wheel for the want of a better description!
It’s off a Pilote, 16” in pretty good condition, the rim is steel so I don’t know whether it’ll suit yours.
I’m in W Midlands, Telford.
PM me if you think it’s of any use

It’s perhaps worthwhile mentioning the potential problem of using a steel spare if your regular wheels are Alloys, from my experience when in Germany I found out that I needed different wheel studs which I did not have.
Not always the case though.

On a Fiat cjhassis you can use the same bolts, the shoulder is the same, the bolts for the Alloys are 2mm longer, fine with steel wheels.

i advertised one for sale a while ago, brand new tyre and also a wind up mechanism to fit to the underneath. do a search on classifieds for sale and you will find it and you can check the size etc and see the photos

Are you talking about a full Fiat chassis as the problem that I had was that the bolts were too long when the steel wheel was fitted, they went in too far and stopped the wheel from going around. It was on a 2008 Fiat based Burstner Solano and believe that it was an Alko chassis but not 100% sure.

On the G600 the spare wheel carrier fits underneath and is the same as on any Fiat Ducato van from 2007ish.

Not heard of that before.

Caught me by surprise as well, had to wait a day while ADAC took the alloy wheel away and fitted a new steel valve as the original one had corroded and snapped causing the tyre to deflate.

That's a useful/problematic observation...............I was assured when we got a steel wheel as a spare, that the bolts from the alloy wheels would fit. When we practised changing a wheel they seemed to do so, but we didn't try to drive on this practice run.........stopping the wheel from going round seems a big problemo

Any thoughts from anyone

All you really need to do is to put the wheel on and see if it’s okay, in my case I changed the wheel but the end of the bolt was catching whatever there was behind it, it would only turn when I loosened it off a bit.

Thanks for all the replies, very helpful. My an has 15inch steel wheels
