The spare wheel carrier will probably mount under the garage floor anyway so no weight savings gained. Garage is best for accessibility.
If your van has the chassis extension then the underfloor mount should fit. I'm not sure how much ground clearance you will lose

Why does anyone really want to have a spare wheel, most manufactures are no longer supplying them

The manufacturers are not supplying a wheel because they think we don't need them.
They are doing it to;
1. Save money
2. Save weight
3. Save more Money

Not necessarily in that order.

Have a blowout or ruined tyre on the Continent on a Friday afternoon, (other times are available) and see if your opinion changes.

As above why bother?
I've not needed one for 20+ years so I'm happy not to bother.
Couldn't change it anyway.

Nice tidy garage and I agree I too would feel warm and fuzzy knowing I had an umbrella in case of rain :roflmto:

But where do you keep your bikes?
The bikes fit in nicely either side of the garage and the boxes stack up perfectly in the middle. If I stuff the morrocan carpet upfront under the floor, then I can get a second stack of boxes on the other side too, Definitely got some room in that garage that's for certain!

I'm trying to free up space in the garage and also move the weight forward which is why I thought about a carrier. On second thoughts, the weight of any carrier will probably negate any gain. Might just rearrange the garage. Thanks anyway folks.
