Is it worth going this October or should we postpone again.

We are booked for a 1 month trip in October. It's been put back twice. Originally planned for April 2020.

What do those who have braved it think.?

It's a big cost so don't want to do it and be wearing masks when enjoying my cervezas and local wines.

Ps. We have unlimited flexibility brittany ferries . Plymouth to santander.

We’re in the same boat, not literally 😎. We’re booked Dover to Calais for the end of August, with a campsite booked in Spain for a month in September/October.

We have spent a lot of time discussing whether to go and spent time looking at all the ever changing regulations. I think we’ve more or less decided to cancel. It just feels like too much uncertainty. A break like that is supposed to be fun, both in the planning and the doing. It doesn’t feel much like fun having to plan Covid tests etc., and watching Covid figures rising and talk of curfews and borders closing.

We took the decision a couple of months back to again not travel on the continent in 2021, so 2022 will be a ‘full on’ European travel year for us! Pragmatic or overly cautious? Who knows, but we are still comfortable with the decision.

Must admit I'm very doubtful we'll make it for this winter. We're just keeping an eye on things to see what happens before we book crossings and our usual site for 3 months. What's worse is that our cats rabies vax and paperwork is now all expired or n/a so we have to start again from scratch which takes quite a lot of time.

Voted to go. We have 90 days booked for Spain from January and most of September in France this year.
Getting older every day so desperately need to start enjoying our retirement.
At some point we have to start accepting Covid is here for the foreseeable future and getting lives back to normal.
Just our very personal opinion but fully appreciate others have the completely opposite view

We're booked France and Spain October and my waters say it will be ok.
nihil aliud ausus est. nihil lucrata

We usually go for 8-10 weeks January-March time. I'm sat in Port Louis Morbihan at the moment, been here since France opened 10th June. Things are open but everything is muted, not really fun, fun, fun. For instance today is Bastille day, normally trocs pucs and fireworks. Well the antiques market is open but not in full swing, fewer booths, fewer people, quiet.
So if I was in my Campervan I'd not really be getting value for my time. I'm fortunate to have a house here, so being around the house I've got plenty to keep me amused.

I've booked Bennicasim and Play Tropicana for Jan - March no deposits paid. If it's still masks and tests, I think I will cancel.

Good luck.

We though long and hard about our crossing booked to Spain in early October. Decided there was still too much uncertainty and the cases are still rising so transferred it to Sept 2022. However due to the increased costs of the ferry we will be going to St Malo now.

We went last sept oct,,no problem.Went this June july again no problem.BUSBY.

I voted postpone. We are due away to Spain for our 90 days from 14th December. We are hoping things are just a little better by then and going in the right direction plus a few million more jabbed in Spain but if they ain't then no go.

I think there's not enough information to decide. Would it be a problem if you needed to isolate on return etc. If you really meant will Europe be back to the old normal I suspect the answer is probably not

It's lovely here in the Pyrenees at the moment. No masks required outdoors, where we spend so much of our time anyway. Lots of lovely places to park for free. If you can, just do it!

Very thoughtful as I doubt you get much chance to drink it, being on your bike all day.
;)

(Your Iron Man mountain biking photos leave me knackered).
Believe me, I find time....👍🥴🇪🇦 Facemask rules have been relaxed, but some regions have and other regions are deciding on reintroducing Curfew hours....this time last year travelling for Residents and Citizens was encouraged....having experienced a severe lockdown the government thought it's a good idea.....🤔🇪🇦

Green with envy, I don't suppose you have the grid references for these locations.

I'm doing Ironman Portugal in October, I will parachute in if I have to, but I am not cancelling anything, I am waiting for them to tell me It's strictly illigal. If there is a way I am going. !!

We have a damp check booked at our Belgium dealer for Sept 19th then the plan was to head for south west France or Spain/Portugal for 6/7 weeks. We will wait until about a week before then decide if we are going to book a crossing or cancel.

Chunnel booked 1st September trying to bring it forward to mid Aug. We are going until told not to. Had to leave twice last year due to lock down, no problem. . If it’s allowed go…. I will be taking all the precautions as if everyone has the plague. Happy with our own company and out of the way places. COVID is here to stay. Learn to live with it

22nd August Plym to Santander till November. If return entry isn't stabilised by November it never will be!

It was actually on the col at Port de Bonaigua. We moved around the corner when the storm broke. 😂

My photos? I can get them later for you.

Thanks for everyone's advice

We have moved it to May 2022🤞

I think that’s the right decision. We are doing the same thing.
