We are planning our first trip to Spain for next February/march and would appreciate some advice from the wise owls on the forum.
Crossing Pompey Santander?
Straight across to you Mediterranean coast?
How far south to get some sunshine?
Site's should we book or as it's early days can we just turn up?
Al advice appreciated as senior management is insisting that we are organised!!

If you go towards the end of February you will not have to go as far South but in January and February you need to be below Valencia to have a chance of the warmer weather.
Hopefully we will be at Villajoyosa just South of Benidorm for January and February.
The Portsmouth to Santander crossing can be rough and is now 30 hours, because of this we have now jumped ship and will be going Portsmouth to Cherbourg overnight on Boxing Day.

South of Calpe is generally the best of what to expect in February....much cooler inland and on your route down...if snow falls it is quickly sorted if you travel on Autovias and Autopistas....in the past some sites could be full on the coast, what's going to happen this winter is a bit of an unknown....just now it's quite busy with most nationalities and far less Brits.... shouldn't have too many problems Spain is well blessed with a great number of Sites and we'll appointed Aires..

Depends on how many days you want to take and how well your van copes with the cold. We went at the end of February 2019. We initially planned to go straight through the middle of the country, taking our time. We got as far as Burgos. Turns out it was below freezing overnight up on the peninsular. There was still snow on the roadside on the shadowed side of some valleys. So we change plans and instead we went to the Med coast and worked our way down.

Thanks for the input I think I Will plan on going straight across to Barcelona from Santander then down the coast. Try and get down to the warmer weather.
