If you are travelling in Spain during September and October please be aware that it is ‘Gota Fria’ season. Check the weather forecast as to where you are travelling and hopefully you won’t be caught out as it is extremely frightening (our house and PVC were hit by lightening a couple of years ago and did lots of damage). This happened yesterday around Toledo.....

Gota Fria is quite frightening, we have been there when it happened in Javea.

Thats also why we bought higher up to minimise flooding.

Thats torrential rain in Toledo, not got fria.

There were similar storms around Barcelona last week.

We have twice been hit by a Gota Fria and once by a DANA. What happened last week has been classified as a DANA by aemet (the Spanish met office). Unfortunately such events are becoming far more frequent (there are some very interesting articles on this subject to read in El Pais on line). The same the world over I’m afraid, weather patterns are changing and not for the better.

We drove through heavy rain on Friday near Girona, was so bad many cars stopped at the side of the road, presumably because they couldn't see where they were going.
Fortunately we were on the toll road (now it's free) and it didn't flood.

Glad you’re okay Richard n Ann. Aguilas was hit by a DANA on Thursday, terrible flooding. Take a look at the N332 Facebook page, it’s a very good page for information as well as it’s all written by the police here in Spain.
