Have two weeks off over Christmas and thinking the South of France may be an option.
Question is is it worth it, is the weather warm enough to enjoy the outdoors and will attractions be open.
Normally culture and wine fit the bill but the kids 14/12 are desperate for fun.
Typically use non commercial type sites however this time looking to satisfy the kids criteria.
Indoor /outdoor pool, shop, games room, bike track, horse riding if possible plus plenty of Croissants!
Plan to spend one week on site and one week as travelling time.
So if anyone has any recommendations for a fun filled site on the French Riviera it would be most welcome.

People live in the south of France, obviously. That and many people head to resorts for holiday times.

We were in Ste. Maxine one new year and it was bustling.

There is a site up in the hills above the Côte d’Azur. Covered, heated swimming pool, bar etc.

I cannot recall the name. But if you enter the area, filters in the ACSI (not camping card section). Ticking indoor pool etc, you may find it.

Other than that, it’s the Spanish med. but unless you go via ferry to Santander. It’s a long drive through France for 2 weeks.

The other option is the centre park in Holland with a camp site.

Covered pool but it will usually be cold and windy.

NL are not allowing UK tourists in without a PCR test and quarantine. So Rotterdam / hoek van Holland ferry is out as it stands at the moment.

I’ve just thought of another Dutch alternative

Klein Vink - roompot

Indoor heated pool, restaurants, bars, entertainment. Thermal baths on-site (extra charge).

Lots of walking and cycling opportunities. The local parkland is lit up with bonfires and walks in Nearby Bad Arcen.

Thanks EuroTrotters, hadn't given Holland a thought.
Somewhere I've always wanted to visit.
Will check out recommendations.

Thanks for that info, so if it stays like that till 1/1/22 no one can enter Holland via Hull-Rotterdam and transit straight out of Holland into Germany in Dec?
Mmm may have to book the tunnel🤷‍♂️

It changed a week of so ago just needs testing prior to travel (plus vaccination)

If you can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated

The Dutch authorities currently classify the UK as a ‘very high risk country’. This means that fully vaccinated UK nationals, who can provide acceptable proof of vaccination, which includes the NHS COVID Pass, will be allowed to enter the Netherlands. Please see Demonstrating your COVID-19 status below, for further information.

Fully vaccinated travellers arriving in the Netherlands from the UK via aeroplane, ferry, passenger car, train or bus must show one of the following:

  • a negative PCR test result (taken no more than 48 hours before departure);
  • a negative antigen test result (taken no more than 24 hours before departure).
Fully vaccinated travellers are exempt from quarantine on arrival in the Netherlands.

Have you considered Germany as a destination. Christmas Markets are usually still on, some of the theme parks like Europa are open and lots of towns have really good swimming pools and thermal baths both indoor and out so a really good time to visit.

We went down to Bavaria a couple of christmas's ago to visit Castle Newanstein plus go to some ski jumping so always plenty of options.
