In the last few days we've had two random people knock on the door and ask if we're selling our van (we're not). I checked back on our security camera afterwards and he jumped out of his car, left the door open and engine running so a proper drive-by :cautious:

I guess just trying his luck as they're in demand right now, so be vigilant everyone.

He also stalled as he drove off

Sad to say their not “random” they are on the lookout for one to steal. Immobilise it if you can 👍

Had a chap knock on my door saying his son was attacked in the lane side of my house and can I check CCTV.

Me can’t find anything on CCTV so called him back to say so but got me thinking, was it an attempt to see if my 8x cameras are actually working, well yes they all are and yes he knows now.

Bit strange I thought and was it a test?

I've had three casual door-knocking dodgy looking 'buyers' in the past two months, plus a total stranger asking if he could check in my sheds as he'd lost his cat and two young pie key lads with undressed long fishing rods asking if they could have my old leisure battery inside my porch (which wasn't visible from the pavement). Apparently the fishing rods are used to hook up keys through any open window.
My neighbour had an old copper h/w cylinder and about 40 metres of copper pipe nicked within 2 hrs of putting it in his back garden.

I would say"yes I am considering selling it but I have someone for it, leave me your details and if the sale falls through I'll give you a call"

I've lost count of how many people we have had at the door asking if one of the motorhomes is for sale ..some have been of the Irish traveller type others just people hoping for a bargain in the current climate.

Its at least in double figures since June

But I guess having 2 vans in the drive could make some think someone's upgrading

Only no one upgrades from a quality German van to a newer inferior British model do they

So im convinced these aren't veteran motorhomers😁

Sounds highly like they were casing the place and hoping you were not in . I would report this to the police as it’s suspicious .

Not all enquiries are suspicious ...i bought several cars , vw campers and even 2 caravans from doing this very thing , not everyone advertises things they don't use , some leave them lying in driveways rotting away because they either have no idea what they are worth or any idea how to sell them ... ive got a few bargains as a result

One 1973 westfalia camper van is a good example ...the man had died the auld wife no idea what to do with it

They could think the upgrade is going the other way - British to German.
