He simply doesn’t fancy this particular job…..I need my hotand cold pipes insulating under my van (PVC) and thought I could do it myself but the wheel ramps I have are too steep to get the van up, so I thought I would call CaravanAndy who I’ve seen around the town, he is a mobile caravan and Motorhome service engineer.
I rang Him and told him what the job was and he refused saying “I don’t do PVC,s my PL Cover will not let me”. Very odd it’s not gas piping so not much chance of blowing us up with faulty work, worst that could happen is I loose a load of water onto the ground.
What jobs do you need doing but cannot get anyone to do for you ?
Quick way to die prematurely , even with axle stands I wouldn’t be keen, to many accidents with cheap Chinese axle stands giving way…..Nor do I but I used the scissor jack that came with the van on mine and it was OK...

Stands are for 2t (I think) so plenty of leeway and not sure they are chinese. I found the jack to be very good and lifted the van easily much better than I thought and it did not take too much effort so was pleasantly surprised. Not needed now I have E&P levelling but still put axle stands under when greasing the rear axle.Quick way to die prematurely , even with axle stands I wouldn’t be keen, to many accidents with cheap Chinese axle stands giving way…..

Did offer but seems he is too far away. Can you not buy some Armstrong Armaflex insulation of the right size from Plumbase or similar, then find a place where you can hire a ramp or pit for 1/2 day. Some good long and thick cable ties to wrap it, job done.
I did an Autocruise motorhome that I had myself, it’s not difficult.

Find a tyre garage and ask them if they could do it whilst they are quiet. Thanks but I am in Todmorden West Yorkshire.Lancs boarder
He done well for himself. Pimlico plumbing was Recently sold to an American company for about £140m!Isnt this the reason that Pimlico Plumbers became so successful - despite charging premium rates they get repeat business as they turn up at the appointed time (I'm only basing this on news items as they don't cover North Wales).
I used to come across these guys a lot when i worked in London, they were always punctual, polite, well presented, and the work was always followed up by a visit from "customer care" plus any very rare problems were sorted promptly. He done well for himself. Well said, I agree with your commentsHe obviously doesn't need the work .. if it were me I'd get all the bits and do it myself if you don't have the room just find a quiet carpark or similar..at least you know that's it's done right and if it ever gets snagged and comes off you can quickly repair yourself.

Funny how grand children readily help grandparents but won't lift a finger for parents!!!I'd hire a grandchild. They're always keen to please.

Might be something to do with the bribery I use, that I would never advocate as a parent.Funny how grand children readily help grandparents but won't lift a finger for parents!!!
I was told that if the Members of Check A Trade don't like a review which is sent to them before publicizing it is used don't know whether it's true or not,.Don’t bother with Check-A-Trade or whatever it’s called. My son used a company on that website for a new bathroom…..total rubbish job, then went bust after payment.
They do however spend a lot of time in Boisdale!I

Chaser , you asume I am handy with a driver and other tools ,one, do I trust myself under the van, No, would I know what I am doing, probably Not If I did the work I am likely to see piping trailing behind me within a few days !Thing is though with this sort of job , there's not going to be a lot of money in half a days cable tying lying under a motor.
But then if the van springs a leak sometime in the future and soaks the van the customer is going to be back asking if it was done right, or it freezes or something, not saying this is what Otter Spotter would do but the problem is there, if doing a job for someone you don't know.
Far better doing it yourself then you know it's right.
use house 1Metre central heating lagging tubes they are partly cut through lengthways just run your thumb down to open them up available from Builders Merchants, cut them with a Stanley Knife , to size , open up split put over pipes then close tube gap around pipe and fit Strip clips to secure making sure Stripclips are pulled tight, then I can assure you insulation tubes won't come off.Chaser , you asume I am handy with a driver and other tools ,one, do I trust myself under the van, No, would I know what I am doing, probably Not If I did the work I am likely to see piping trailing behind me within a few days !
You are not going to believe this but, I have the lagging tubes but the big issue is that my convertor chose to weave both hot and cold pipes through the cut outs in the chassis members, so to lag them means disconnecting them, lagging whilst rerouting. The problem will be ensuring I reconnect soundly, and this is all whilst on my back under the vanuse house 1Metre central heating lagging tubes they are partly cut through lengthways just run your thumb down to open them up available from Builders Merchants, cut them with a Stanley Knife , to size , open up split put over pipes then close tube gap around pipe and fit Strip clips to secure making sure Stripclips are pulled tight, then I can assure you insulation tubes won't come off.
Only Danger you might encounter is if you don't cut excess Stripclip off it could poke you in the eye !!
