After many hours spent looking for a way to carry paddle boards and windsurfers, Here is a home made solution and works a treat. I used a tow bar clamp off Ebay and built it up from there. Trailer board to be attached

Perfect......

Ian.s Superb idea, which would solve the issue of carrying our two Starboard SUPs. You should patent it !

If I had that I’d lose out on the exercise of pumping up our two Red paddle 10’8” boards by hand.
Looks good though (y)
I soon got sick of doing that, ending up knackered before a paddle, especially the last few psi to reach 18psi and the OH didn’t have enough body weight to push the pump handle down ?

I bought a McConks 12v inflator. Plug in to cigarette lighter, set to 18psi, switch on, get wet suit on while it’s running, switches off at preset level = bliss. It easily inflates both of our boards, the only downside being it’s a bit noisy when it reaches the higher pressures.

Not bad for about £100, trailer board will be £16 to add to that, it'll carry paddles and four 8.6 or shorter boards... Spain and Portugal for the winter where Ill stare at them drinking wine and convince myself I should really go out on the water

That's the same way we carry our sit on Kayak's work's a treat (y)

Id seen these on my travels. A lot of overhang, I couldn't find anything that was windsurf/paddleboard specific, This home build has only increased the length by 13 inches. I don't have to worry so much about rear swing, Check out the price of the kayak one

What is it, 30mm box? Maybe 40? Nice job, I made a similar tow bar rack for my old moped. That's before I knew about payload and stuff ?

Yes 30mm box section, one and a half inch glue fit waste pipe ripped down the centre fits perfectly, The hole thing rests on the tow bar clamped by a Bak-rak Unirak and then a bracket fasted to the MH at the top, I can stand and bounce on it with no movement 85 kilos

Nice, you can do absolutely anything with box section, I love the stuff. Better get making another one though because as soon as 596 sees this he'll buy one :giggler:

Our new MH has roof bars along the edge already ... might have to check them out to see if I can get a rigid kayak up there ... it would save hubby huffing and puffing to inflate my Gumotex one. :D

i did see a similar thing on an a class at towyn a couple of years ago, he had altered some bits on his bike rack so the boards wedged into the bottom metal hoop and then strapped to the top bar but the bike rack was quite low on the van compared to most so the boards didnt stick above the van roof

That's what I thought of doing in the past as it would negate the need for a towbar totally if it had an extension down from the bike rack for the bottom of the board to be held in. It would certainly be a lot cheaper and lighter than having to have a towbar fitted and then a metal structure as well for the boards.
