I do think that part of planning applications should be that they have south facing roof on all new warehouse etc

They need to build the battery storage at the same time. There's hope batteries using sodium might be useful for bulk storage. They are physically large but potentially easier to make as sodium is more easily sourced than lithium.

Aquion had a venture with salt and went under, overwhelmed by guarantee claims. Flow batteries make sense for grid, Australia uses them.
