Are you saying it's already mounted on the roof & the wiring is in place. If so you will need a solar regulator between the panel and the battery. Best solar regulators are the MPPT type like Votronic & Victron.

Yep it’s on the roof and I can see a coil of wire underneath . But can’t see where it enters the MH (if it does at at all)

May need to get a cable entry box and work out how you are going to route the cables. Then get brave and drill a hole in the roof.

See where the end of the wire goes it may already be plugged in, also check in cupboards for the controller if there is one, did they charge you for it?

Have a look under the panel with a trusty 'mirror on a stick'.
As other funsters have said there 'should' be a solar charge controller in the van.
Alternatively on a sunny day see what your 12V voltage is without EHU and if it goes up the panel must be connected.
If You haven't got a multi-meter to check the voltage.

Before you do anything with it have a look at the various solar panel threads so you have some idea of what you need. Also you will need to check with the vehicle handbook how you go about connecting up a solar source - there may already be provision for it.

There'll be someone along shortly who is much more expert than me, but you will need to find out first if that coiled cable actually goes anywhere. From what you say I would guess nowhere and the panel was not connected up because you didn't specify one in your order. Just your good fortune that someone had already fitted it.

You could of course go back to the dealer to see what they say.............................:giggler:

Well the mystery deepens . I’m pretty sure the cable comes into the cab into one of the cupboards as one of you guys said and I’ve found an instruction book for a solar power controller (no brand name) with a picture on it .... just haven’t been able to find it .
I opted not to have a solar panel and didn’t pay for one sooooooo I may have just lucked in . I’ll look at the control panel on a sunny day , if we ever get one .

Put up a picture of the instructions, someone will know of it and give you some tips...

Turn everything off in there in the morning and disconnect the electric, wait till midday. If the habitation battery voltage is above 12.7 and ideally above 13 volts this time of year it’s wired up!

When I put the solar panels on previous MHs I put the controller next to the existing Electroblock so see if yours is near it, other than that its a case of hide and seek!

Another thought, see if you can trace the wiring back from either the leisure batteries or the Elecktroblock to the solar controller ...
