Does this resonate with anyone; you walk into the toilet block on a half decent site, into a cubicle and gag at the state it’s been left in by the previous user. You back out trying not barf, cussing the anonymous filthy bastard as you go. Noting the unused toilet brush pristine in its holder.

You go to the sink in a morning to shave, the whole area looks like a family of Otters has been at play, leaving water everywhere, not a dry or clean surface to be had.

You go to wash the dishes - the sink is filthy with coloured scum marks and blocked plug holes from the previous user.

The shower floor and bench is awash with someone else’s ‘wetness’, noting the unused squeegee mop thing by the door.

I suppose I should know better at my advanced age, and not be so sensitive about differing values and personal standards, but ALL of the above are examples i’ve Seen this past week on a virtually brand new premium site in Croatia, which has ultra modern toilet and shower facilities with electronic sensor touch paper towel and soap dispensers, cleaning equipment everywhere, and a very industrious team of cleaners.

Despairing about it to my wife this morning, she tells me that the ‘ladies’ facilities are often left in the same state. (Not sure about the shaving situation) Who would have thought?

Does your motorhome not have a sink shower and toilet then ?

You have rather expensive, for what they are, en-suite facilities in your van.... Use them.
Or do you go to a neighbours house when at home to use their bathroom.

Yeah, but in a motorhome shower, what do you get, a quick sprinkle and soap down and another quick sprinkle to rinse off.
When I use showers in camp sites I probably use about double our motorhome tank's capacity of 160ltr. Squander that water to your hearts content, what a treat!
:D

Just what sort of sites do you stay on?

Strange init how peoples opinions differ.
When rarely on a CMC site (3 times in 4 years), OH uses the shower block and facilities as she says theres more room in the shower, and has more time to wash her hair.
I have a shower/shave in the van, usualy while she walks back & forth to the shower block.
First comment about any particular site, by our travelling colleagues is usualy about how good/bad the shower block is, whereas mine is How Much? were you not that close to the sea or a river?:cold::rofl:

No I get a full shower like I would In the house , 8 of them to a tank of water with plenty left over.

Besides I'm environmentally conscious and don't believe in wasting water ?

Crikey, how big a water tank do you have? Mine is about 80 litres.

Do all these people that worry about using lavatory seats that nobody else has used and showers that have been used by someone else never use pub toilets, public toilets, hotel toilets and showers?.....Must have strong bladders and powerful sphincters:)

The last time I went for a shower the place was in a right mess and the previous user hadn't made any attempt to clean up after themselves.

I just can't get the wife to clean up after me when I use our onboard facilities - I'll have to get a Maid or Butler ......

?

We use our van a lot ( and always use our own facilities)
One way we can try and offset the pollution the van causes is to save as much water and electricity when we are away as we can. We rarely use EHU and can last up to 3 or 4 days on 145 litres of water.
When we do go on campsites ( we always get a non electric pitch) we are always shocked at the amount of waste going on there.
We should all try and be a little more environmentally conscious.
Of course, I’m not getting at you, just all the others that waste resources...........;)

I only use the motorhome facilities. Swmbo used to always use site facilities if available, but even she has given up on them. Its not only the state they may be in but why trek across a site when you have your own facility within yards.
Incidentally I shower the same at home, turning water off when not needed. Don't try it with an electric shower though the water temperature fluctuates on turning on.

Whatever you you should use flip-flops on your feet, these places are a great depository of good old veruca virus and unlike swimming pools there is no chlorinated foot bath to go through before and after the shower. how many people have got through it that day?

We always use hook up on site , we would be using electricity at home so no big deal and probably much less in van.

Well, I make it into a campsite maybe twice a year for a day or two. Not really going to break the bank so far as water resources but otherwise, we make 160 litres last 4 to 5 days when we're on Aires or wild camping. It's surprising how water can be eeked out. I even use the grey waste as a first rince for the cassette before using clean water. So I think I'm fairly eccologicaly minded. ?
But it's still a treat to use a site shower. ;)

As Colin Baker said on "Little Britain" "if you have a verruca & would like to share it with others, why not take it along to your local swimming baths".

I don’t often use campsites, or their facilities, but if I do and they are a mess, but the kit is there (toilet brush, or squeegee) I will clean it, then use it, then clean it. I’m not too proud to clean something. Just because some don’t care, doesn’t mean no one should care.

Andy.

I hope you ask for a discount on site fees, cos you sure deserve one, good on ya!
