Hi

Can anyone recommend a good site to walk from to go up Snowdon? We like to leave the van and walk. Preferably a quiet site with a dog around middle of May

Thanks

I stopped here a few years back more of a camp site but they do allow motorhomes or they did on the front hard standing part, great for walks, canoeing and camp fires.

I was going to ask if the site had to have a dog.... Or would a pony be OK.

Don't be silly, it's Wales, they'll have sheep. And therefore sheepdogs.

But I see where you are coming from with pony, alas all the pit ponies have moved on to the great big pit in the sky.

If you just want to park for the walk there is a large car park opposite the Mountain Railway Station in Llanberris.
They used to allow overnighting but sadly have now stopped it.
Allow around 4-5 hours for the ascent and descent.
I have to say the bit that I always find the hardest on this route is the little lane up the side of the railway line that leads to the gate onto the mountain. It's a steep little blighter.

Also now stopped motorhome parking at any time. We were there in October.
You can park in the car park behind the water treatment works, for half the price. Only a short walk away. I think you can overnight there.
