Greetings,
I'm sure this will have been discussed before, but I can't find it.
Anyway, are there any recommendations for snow tyres (not all seasons ) as I've tried looking them up but there are so many I got totally confused.

Do you mean snow/ice tyres (metal studs) or winter tyres?

We’ve used Michelin Agilis Alpin winter tyres on our cars and cannot believe how capable they are in snow.

Where are you thinking of going as snow chains/socks might be a cheaper option

Thanks all,
I don't know where as yet ,depends on the regulations as we go through the winter, but Austria and some others, snow tyres are mandatory throughout the winter period.
They will not accept just having socks and / or chains as well.
Snow tyres without metal studs, the ones with the snow symbol on the side wall.

winter tyres (not show tyres)

4 season tyres are enough in 95% of cases, I personally stopped using winters 10yrs ago as you can’t (well shouldn’t) use them in summer where as 4 season are good allyear around

I've used Continental Vanco Winter 2 tyres all year round for 8/9 years with no problems. Have the "snowflake" symbol which is the requirement - and yes they do work well in snow. However some alpine resorts, especially in Austra, insist you carry chains (not socks) as well.

If you are serious about going to the Alps this coming winter, then get 4 of the very best winter tyres you can afford. - based on several seasons in the Alps - You need to fully trust the grip on your tyres when you get on some of the passes - particulalrly heading down - not always that easy to just stop and get your chains on - Several times we have passed people stopping to put chains on because they have got stuck - good snow tyres are an absolute must I would suggest - and as you say - compulsory in Austria -
Great way to experience the Alps in your van though - enjoy the planning for your trip.

You won't need them for a while. I had 4 Kuhmo mud and snow tyres fitted on the car last year. That guarantees there will be no snow for at least a few years. 🙄 I really wanted to try them out too 😔

The tyres seem good, not noisy or any different from the last ones really, and were cheap 👍
